[edit] Name

His correct name, as with all other Cardinals of the Holy Roman Church, is officially set out in the form "Cardinal Name Surname", not in the form Name Cardinal Surname. For proof of that, visit the Vatican´s own website. It clearly shows that the practice is to use the title "Cardinal" as a prefix to both name and surname.

For that reason, I have amended the page.

The formula Name Cardinal Surname is used correctly only in Latin, or for the Cardinal´s signature. For instance, Card. Angelo Sodano is reffered to in Latin as Angelum Card. Sodano. In Latin, then, the baptismal name of the Cardinal is latinized, and the surname is kept intact, with the title of Cardinal being used between the two. This has led many people wrongly to believe that the names of the cardinals should be pronounced also in vulgar tongues with the title between the name and the surname, but that is incorrect, as the above Vatican webpage shows.

[edit] A hint of scandal

The following sentence really needs recasting. I would do it, but I don’t know what it was intended to mean.

As a member of the Society of Don Bosco, he is still considered as a priest who has undertaken work with youth who, in Pope John Paul's last words, he had sought throughout his papacy.

[edit] retirement

Is the retirement age for the secretary of state also 75? Why would the pope appoint someone who can serve for such a short period of time? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 136.145.83.136 (talk) 00:59, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
