[edit] Fair use for "Tarponback.jpg" in the Rambler Tarpon article

Though this image is subject to copyright, its use is covered by the U.S. fair use laws, and the stricter requirements of Wikipedia's non-free content policies, the image is used under "fair use" because:

  1. It is a historically significant photo of a famous concept car from 1963 that no longer exists (concept cars were routinely destroyed soon after they were shown to the public).
  2. There is no "free" equivalent of the publicity photograph showing this particular concept car.
  3. This has been previously published and had been used the automotive press, magazines and other media when comparing the design to more current automobiles such as the Chrysler Crossfire.
  4. The name of the photographer/artist is unknown.
  5. It is of lower resolution than the original, so it will not detract from the value of any original image.
  6. The image is only being used for informational purposes within the Wikipedia article about this car (Rambler Tarpon).
  7. The material is encyclopedic and otherwise meets general Wikipedia content requirements.
  8. This meets the media-specific policy requirements.
  9. The image is used in at least one article.
  10. The material contributes to the article by specifically illustrating a relevant section within the text about this car and its contribution to the design of production versions, known as the Rambler Marlin.
  11. The image does not detract from the reputation of the subject.
