Tappi-Kaitei Station
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Tappi-Kaitei Station (竜飛海底駅 -eki?) is a train station within the Seikan Tunnel on the Kaikyo Line in Sotogahama, Aomori, Japan. It is operated by Hokkaido Railway Company.
Tappi-Kaitei is very infrequently serviced by JR trains (usually only one or two trains per day stop there), but is connected by an underground cable car to the surface. The station houses a museum detailing the construction and operation of the tunnel.
Yoshioka-Kaitei Station, Japan's deepest underground station, is located on the Hokkaidō side of the tunnel.
