Taourirt (Morocco)

Taourirt is a city in the Northern part of Morocco. Situated in the Rif mountains about 100 km south of the city of Nador and the Spanish enclace of Melilla

The town is important as a transport link: the main East-West railway from Casablanca - Rabat - Fez in the West to Oujda in the East runs through Taourirt. Also busline running from several cities in the Nador province (including the city of Nador) make a stop in the town.

Also a new branch line from Taourirt to Nador is currently being built and should be openend in 2010 or 2011. This line runs alongside the existing road, through the mountains, to Nador.
