Tao (TAO 道?)[2] is a Famicom post-industrial adventure game about living the life of a nomad seeking enlightenement. On the way to enlightenement, the player roams from Japanese town to town looking for find himself in the chaos of life in Japan. There are elders and common folk outside the village that give out advice when you leave the town by walking on the railroad tracks. There are railroad tracks at the beginning the game, suggesting that the player stars out as a railroad hobo.
However, a Buddhist temple can be explored near the player's starting point[3]. In the introduction prior to beginning the game, a sperm cell transforms into a fetus and into a baby. This baby is representative of the main character in the beginning of his life. Japanese literacy is required to play this game.
