TANTOI12

Here's my page on Wikipedia. Here are a few of my accomplishments but I'm not finished yet. I have set my goals high and I am determined to follow my dream. I firmly believe in the following quote:

"Greatness is not in where we stand, but in what direction we are moving. We must sail sometimes with the wind and sometimes against it but sail we must, and not drift nor lie at anchor" - Oliver Wendell Holmes.

I am now attending Georgia State University pursuing a bachelor's degree in finance. I work in the Accounting Department for Piedmont National Corporation, one of the top distribution companies in the southeast. The headquarters are located near midtown in Atlanta. My goal/dream is to pursue and obtain a joint Masters of Business Administration/Juris Doctorate degree. My career goal is to become a corporate/securities lawyer.

Here's a little about me: I was born in Atlanta, but was raised in Port Orange, FL (near Daytona Beach) where I graduated from Spruce Creek High School. After graduation I decided to serve in the Army. I served in the Army for three years, stationed in Camp Zama, Japan (near Tokyo). I came back to Port Orange for a few years before moving to Atlanta. I have now resided in Atlanta for several years now. Unfortunately, Port Orange doesn't have quite the job availability or pay scale that a metropolitan area like Atlanta has. That's where I met my wonderful wife and had a beautiful daughter who is now over a two years old.

Please - don't edit my userpage (except my talkpage); if you see something that needs to be fixed, something you disagree with, or something you just don't like, don't hesitate to let me know and we can discuss the problem and fix it. Thank you very much.

[edit] ...About My Military Service

I joined the Army back in 1998. I went to basic training (when basic training was still tough) and AIT (as an Administrative Specialist) at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. After I completed AIT, to my dismay, I found out I was going to be stationed in Camp Zama, Japan. I did not want to be seven thousand miles away from family and friends. At eighteen years of age that's a scary thought! However, I flew to California with my mother, and spent a week in Los Angeles, where I was supposed to catch a military flight from LAX to Yokota Air Force Base in Japan. When I landed in Yokota, several people from my unit were there to meet me. As I later would find out, these fellow soldiers would be my friends for the next few years. The years that I spent in Japan were some of the best experiences I would ever have (except of course the marriage to my wife and the birth of my beautiful child). While I served I gained professional experience, first as a postal clerk (attached to a postal unit, and become certified with a Fox-5 additional identifier, after going to Postal School in Fort Jackson, South Carolina), then as a Finance Clerk, then finally as a Training NCO (Non-Commissioned Officer) and as the Unit Armorer. As a Training NCO, I participated in planning for Field Exercises such as Cobra Gold in Bangkok, Thailand and Broad Sword in Yamasakura, Japan. I attended many training meetings with other Training NCO's on post. The position also included many other duties. I was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for my hard work and revitalization of this position in my unit. I basically built the Training NCO position from the ground up. I was awarded the Army Achievement Medal for my attention to detail during an annual postal inspection which resulted in a commendable rating for our unit.

My experience in Japan also taught me about the Japanese culture and language. In fact, I used to be semi-fluent and hold a conversation in Japanese. Unfortunately, if you don't use it, you lose it. I also made some wonderful friends in the process. In fact, I dated a Japanese Girl for three years. I also made a best friend named Jun Okubo. Every where you go, the people are so friendly to you.

In March of 2001, I left the Army with a medical discharge (Honorable of course). I left from Fort Lewis, Washington (which is a beautiful state). Fort Lewis was nestled right up against Mount Ranier.

I will never, ever forget my experience in Japan. If anyone ever gets the opportunity to visit there, do not pass it up! I first dreaded going there, but the experience opened my eyes and now I Love it!
