Tantric is the debut album of the post-grunge band of the same name. It was released February 13, 2001 and debuted at #193 on the Billboard 200. The album would eventually peak at #71 and reached platinum status due to the hit-single "Breakdown," as well as follow up singles "Astounded" and "Mourning."

After the band signed to Maverick Records in 1999, they recorded their self-titled album with producer Toby Wright in 2000. Music videos were produced for all three singles and faired well on MTV2. "Breakdown" and "Astounded" feature a more abrasive, confrontational rock sound while "Mourning" takes on power ballad feel. The album as a whole emphasizes acoustic guitar and harmonized vocal melody which is, to some degree, reminiscent of Days of the New, the band of which the three founding Tantric members came from. This style was also heavily influenced by Wright, who is known for applying multi-track vocals to much of his work. The band toured extensively with the likes of Kid Rock and Creed in promotion of the album.
