A Viswanathan Anand fan, Tania became the eighth Indian Woman Grandmaster, joining a list dominated by South Indian players. Tania won her first international title when she was just eight. She has already won the World and Asian junior titles. Her current ELO rating is 2423 (April 2008). Recently she topped the Asian Chess Championship with 6.5 points out of 9 rounds.
