[edit] Religion

Tanfield mainly homes British Christians, and there is a Methodist church in Tanfield Lea.

The village church of St Margaret of Antioch dates back to 900 AD, but the present structure was built in the 18th century. It was the parish church of Beamish Hall, former home to the Eden, Joicey and Shafto families.

[edit] Stores and services

In Tanfield Lea you will find a barber shop, a post office, an Italian take-away, a 'Sizzlers' and a 'Happy Shopper' (convenience store). Most people go to the nearby town of Stanley to do their shopping, due to the small selection of food offered locally.

[edit] Youth

Tanfield's mainstream youth is the stereotypical Chav, having said that the area also homes many intelligent, well-mannered citizens.
