Tanel Tein (born January 10, 1978 in Tartu, Estonian SSR, USSR) is an Estonian professional basketball player.
Tein's professional career started at the Estonian team KK Tartu (today known as Rock Tartu) in the 1993-94 season, when he joined at age of 15.He is a member of the Estonia national basketball team since 1998 and was member of the Estonian team in EuroBasket 2001. Tein is a four-time Estonian champion with Tartu team and Polish Cup winner with Slask Wroclaw in 2004. In 2004-2005 season he signed with the Bundesliga club ALBA Berlin. Currently Tein is back in Tartu and plays for Tartu Ülikool/Rock team.
