Tandem mill

Tandem mill is a special type of modern rolling mill where rolling is done in one pass. In a traditional rolling mill rolling is done in several passes.
But in tandem mill there are several stands and reduction takes place one after another. In traditional mills there are only one stands with 6 rolls (in 6 HI rolling mill) or 4 rolls (in 4 HI rolling mill). But in tandem mill there are more than one stands. Number of stands ranges from 2 stand, 4 stand [1]up to 18 stands.
Tandem mill can be either hot or cold rolling mill type.
