As of 2001 India census[2], Tanda had a population of 83,079. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Tanda has an average literacy rate of 61%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 67%, and female literacy is 54%. In Tanda, 16% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Tanda have one degree college i.e. Triloknath Postgraduate College and many inter college like Arya Kanya Inter College, Muslim Niswan Inter College, Fatima Girls Inter College, Adarsh janta Inter College, Qumi Inter College,Hobart Triloknath Inter College and many other high school and primary school are situated Here.

Tanda is also a constituency, from here at this time M.L.A. is Mr. Lalji Verma of political party Bahujan Samaj Party Headed By Miss. Mayawati she is at this time chief minister of Uttar Pradesh. Lalji Verma is also cabinet minister of Uttar Pradesh he has three ministry, minister of assembly affairs, medical education minister, handicap welfare minister.
