Is there any more contemporary information available on Tank? (May 31)

[edit] x2 Henry Durands on Elephants

The article for Henry Marion Durand says he died in Tonk, India.
Either the link to the Indian city is wrong (due to the fact that before-1947, Tank Pakistan would also have been called Tank/Tonk India)

OR The reference to Henry Durrand in this article is wrong.

Unless of course there were two Henry Durrands who both died on elephants whilst passing under gateways in 1870 and 1871.

I checked the 1911 Encyclopædia Britannica, "There is another town in India called Tonk, or Tank, in Dera Ismail Khan district, North-West Frontier Province ...... Here Sir Henry Durand, lieutenant governor of the Punjab, was killed in 1870 when passing on an elephant under a gateway."

This is now Tank (Pakistan), not Tonk, India. Pahari Sahib 06:45, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
