TAN Books & Publishers
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
TAN Books & Publishers is a traditional Catholic book distributor and publisher. It was founded in 1967 by Thomas A. Nelson and is based in Rockford, Illinois. The company's name is taken from Mr. Nelson's initials.
TAN was founded in order to fill a vacancy in the Catholic book market created by the dissolution of many old Catholic publishers, such as Bruce Publishing and Benziger Brothers (among others). The company now has over 500 titles in print.
TAN has been re-typesetting and refreshing the covers of its classic collection as well issuing new titles. Recent new titles from TAN include The Latin Mass Explained[1], The Life of Little Nellie of Holy God[2] and St. Francis of Assisi and the Conversion of the Muslims.[3]
TAN Books & Publishers should not be confused with the Tennessee-based publisher, Thomas Nelson.
