[edit] Plot

The cartoon begins in Texas where Jerry had stolen cheddar from cheese shop. Everywhere in the town, there were some posters with picture of Jerry, with "Wanted for cheese rustlin" written on them. Jerry again steals some cheddar from cheese shop. Then shop owner again visits sheriff.
Meanwhile, Tom was travelling near the city. After he is seen travelling and minding his own business, he drove on rollerskates to sheriff's office, due to tripping over a rock (and eventually crashlanding). He gives the sheriff his card and is hired to catch Jerry.
When Tom and Jerry meet, they both take out their guns (well, Tom, he does that as well, but he ends up ripping his belt off and his "pants" fall off!) Tom gets embarrassed and Jerry swings his guns and shoots bullets in the air and laughs while an embarrassed Tom goes to pull his "pants" (really some fur that fell off) back up.
Tom starts to chase after Jerry, but Jerry manages to get into a tiny saloon, "Jerry's Hide Out Saloon." Tom later flicks the door open to grab Jerry, but grabs a small bag of what seems to be flour. Unaware of this, Tom tries to get his hand (paw) out, but it's stuck. Jerry moves the sign from the inside, picks up Tom's hat, hits Tom with a mallet, and puts the hat back on Tom upside-down! Then Tom blows it back up, and then, Jerry just laughs when Tom looks at him, seemingly angry, tries to grab him, but misses, and then, Tom chases Jerry again another saloon, where he is tricked into falling down a darkened set of stairs.
The light is turned back on, and when Tom turns his head, the gun is pointing at him. From there, Jerry shoots him. Then Tom chases him yet again. Jerry makes it into a mousehole with perfect timing. Tom takes out a mousetrap, puts cheese on it, puts it in the hole, and listens for a snap when Jerry comes out and brings Tom's tail inside. Jerry puts Tom's tail in the mousetrap, and Tom runs off screaming.
Back at the Dry Gulp General Store, There is one slice of Swiss cheese (which used to be cheddar cheese until Jerry shot holes in it) left. Tom exits with a barrel, and cigar ashes ignite flames that follow the trai to Tom and the barrel. Even though the barrel was underwater where Tom stopped, when the ashes got close enough, the barrel exploded, and the sheriff's office was destroyed. Then the sheriff got angry at Tom and started chasing and trying to shoot Tom.
Moments later, Jerry takes the last piece of cheese from the Dry Gulp and runs off, which ends the cartoon.
[edit] Trivia
- Before the MGM logo, an opening teaser appears about the owner of the general store telling Tom to chase Jerry. Then, the logo appears as a Wanted poster with a cartoon lion on it.
