Coordinates: 16°29′N 76°19′E / 16.48, 76.32 Talikota is a town in Bijapur district in the Indian state of Karnataka. Talikota is a small town in northern Karnataka, about 80 kilometers to the southeast of Bijapur. It lies on the Don River. It is famous for the Battle of Talikota in 1565.

As of 2001 India census[2], Talikota had a population of 26,217. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Talikota has an average literacy rate of 62%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 72%, and female literacy is 51%. In Talikota, 15% of the population is under 6 years of age.
