Talence is a commune in the département of Gironde and the Aquitaine région of France. It is the third-largest suburb of the city of Bordeaux, and is adjacent to it on the south side. It is a member of the metropolitan Urban Community of Bordeaux. The officially estimated population as of January 1, 2005, was 40,700 inhabitants, up from a 1999 census number of 37,210 inhabitants. The commune has a land area of 8.35 km² (3.224 sq mi).
Talence is the home of Décastar, a prestigious yearly international decathlon event.
