[edit] A welcome from Sango123

Hello, Take Me Higher, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions; I hope you like the place and decide to stay. We're glad to have you in our community! Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Though we all make goofy mistakes, here is what Wikipedia is not. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to see the help pages or add a question to the village pump. The Community Portal can also be very useful.

Happy editing!

[edit] Image Tagging Image:Diamante92.jpg

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Diamante92.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. [edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Uplander (Short).jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Uplander (Short).jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. BRossow 16:55, 26 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Request for edit summary

Hi. I am a bot, and I am writing to you with a request. I would like to ask you, if possible, to use edit summaries a bit more often when you contribute. The reason an edit summary is important is because it allows your fellow contributors to understand what you changed; you can think of it as the "Subject:" line in an email. For your information, your current edit summary usage is 0% for major edits and 0% for minor edits. (Based on the last 150 major and 3 minor edits in the article namespace.)

This is just a suggestion, and I hope that I did not appear impolite. You do not need to reply to this message, but if you would like to give me feedback, you can do so at the feedback page. Thank you, and happy edits, Mathbot 17:30, 26 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Removing a number of images uploaded by you

Hi- I wanted to drop you a line and tell you why I have removed a large number of the images that you uploaded on 2/26/2006 from the various articles that you placed them in.

While users images are welcome on Wikipedia, providing that they are tagged correctly, they basically have to perform a clear function relevant to the article where they placed. I removed the noted images from the articles in which they were placed for the following reasons:

  • No image tag. When uploading images to Wikipedia you must tag the image to tell us where you got the image, whether or not its copyrighted, etc. If you created the image that is uploaded, you must tag the image in such a way that allows Wikipedia to display the image and what rights you retain or surrender with its being on Wikipedia. Given some of the previous messages on this talk page, I really have to encourage you to read over the image use policies - they aren't an option, they are the rule.
  • Images that do not illustrate the article object The images removed today did a poor job of ilustrating the cars in question. In many instances the subjects were not centered, but were significantly off center, and taken from a distance - in one example - a Toyota I believe the car sat in the left half of the picture while the right half was parking lot. In at least four images, the images included people who looked as if they were confused why you were taking the image.
  • Bad lighting Again, this is a personal pet peeve, but the image should be well lit, best indirectly, the object of the image should be clear and visible. The car in this image is very dark, and taken against all that white snow, the cars darkness is simply exaggerated and it obliterates any image detail. Also, the “fog” on the image (which I am assuming was condensation on the vehicles window from which the picture was taken) is distracting from the subject.
  • Distance – When taking an image for any publication or purpose, don’t be afraid of getting in tight/close to the subject as possible. In other words make the subject of the image take up as much of the field of focus as possible. In this image the subject was so far from the camera that the car is swallowed up by the environment around it. An image of a car taken half a parking lot removed, or buried under snow, or blocked by a person doesn't do its job of illustrating the subject.

I also think that images placed on Wikipedia should at least make the vehicles as they were intended to look by the manufacturer (with all of their parts intact). Once a car is missing a hub cap, or is in the final stages of decay, the image diverts attention from the vehicle. Because the focus should be on quality, not quanity, I feel that its best not to have an image if the subject is so sub-standard as to divert attention away from its reason for being.

On last thing, when adding images, keep in mind that Wiki code defaults to a right justification, and does so for a reason - it helps readers when the text is flush left. By placing an image to the left, you force the reader to read around the obstacle, in this case, the picture.

It isn't my intent to discourage you from contributing images to Wikipedia -- And I know that I invaded a large part of your contributions - but I wanted to explain why I removed these particular images from the articles where they were placed. Stude62 18:00, 26 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Please stop uploading images of cars buried under snow

Following my last message to you, please stop uploading images of cars buried under and/or covered with snow. These images do not illustrate the cars in question, they simply clutter the articles up. If these images continue to be placed in articles they will be removed. Stude62 18:17, 26 February 2006 (UTC)

Well, on the Chevy Lumina page, I recently reverted back to the image I captured last Sunday with my digital camera, because Apollo Boy had replaced the image with one of the images taken from ConsumerGuide.com.

And I have reverted it back again. There are several problems with your images, the first and foremost is that you have not tagged them correctly. It is not enough simply to say that you took them - Wikipedia policy states that you must give the images the proper image use tag.
Secondly, the images that you uploaded simply do not show off the cars to the best of their ability. The members of the automobile project have discussed these images and we seem to have a general agreement that they do not do the job. User images are welcome, but they should at least show the car as its manufacturer intended, not dirty or buried under snow.
Finally, may I please ask that you learn to sign your posts using four tildas ex. ~~~~ . This not only signs, but also dates your post. Stude62 23:24, 28 February 2006 (UTC)
That's why I replaced your image with the promo image I uploaded recently. I believe user-created images should be used instead of promo images, but when poor quality, untagged and/or unsourced images are used, that's when promo images step in. You're welcome to upload more pictures, but please tag/source them, and don't take them in the snow. --ApolloBoy 01:00, 1 March 2006 (UTC)

I took some cars in the snow with my digital camera, but they're all not snow-covered. (This unsigned post left at 23:28, 5 March 2006 by user Take Me Higher)

OK then, lets take a different approach:
1) Please learn to sign your posts by using four tildas ~~~~. Its a simple protocol to follow and its a courtesy.
2) Please rereview this talk page. Each posts represents other Wikipedians asking you to follow procedures, or be aware of what you are contributing to the community.
  • This includes your failure to tag images in accordence with Wikipedia policy
  • This also includes submitting images which do not show the subject to the best of their ability.
3) I really encourage you to address each of these talk page topics by correcting the problems with the images in question by assigning them the correct license, in the correct manner.
4) While each car wasn't buried under snow, they were either coated in snow or covered in road grime, or contained images of people that shocked that someone was taking their picture. We also had a number of images where the cars were blocked by snow of fog on the car windows while you took the pictures.
Look, here's the bottom line, I want you to contribute and I value your interest in the auto project - sharing a passion isn't something that everyone can do. But with that interest comes some responsibility for Wikipedia policies. If you feel that I'm in error in my attempts to guide you towards the project standards, then please ask the other members of the Wiki-Auto project for their feedback on your contributions. [edit] Thanks for the pictures

Hello Take Me Higher! I appreciate the pictures you've uploaded. If you wish, you could upload them to Wikimedia Commons instead. Then they could be used by wikipedias in all languages. Uploading at Commons is just as easy as uploading here, but you should add a category, for example [[Category:Hyundai vehicles]] to the picture while uploading. Pictures at Commons can be used in articles in exactly the same way as local pictures. --Boivie 00:03, 7 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Update to Suzuki Sidekick

Hi, just writing to ask about your latest edit to the Sidekick page. I was wondering what the purpose of linkifying the years was?

The Wikipedia Manual of Style suggests that date links only be created when they enhance the user experience, or when referring to information which is current as of a particular date. --Myk 23:42, 7 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Siganture and edit comments

You need only sign the posts that you make on talk pages. This is done by typing four tildas ~~~~ at the end of what you are either stating, or answering. You have been signing your article updates by using the four tildas in the edit summary. This is not only unnecessary, but all it produces four tildas - it does not inform anyone about the nature of your edits.

I strongly suggest that read the following Wikiepdia guidelines Wikipedia:Sign your posts on talk pages and Help:Edit summary. Stude62 14:02, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Poor Quality of Images

Hello, I appreciate that you are adding images of cars to articles(especially ones requesting an image), but many of the images you've added are of somewhat poor quality. Some just have poor clarity, but in others there are obstacles in the way. In some images of cars the camera lens must have been wet resulting in a visible raindrops and/or a blury image. There is also snow on the cars and hands, hoods and other objects partially blocking the images. Don't let this discourage you from adding images in the future, just add images of better quality. Bavaria 23:00, 16 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Problems, Again

I have removed the image of the 1997 Dodge Caravan because of the yellow object in the foreground. Like Bavaria, I really want to see your contributions, continue. But the issue of the sub-standard photo contributions (again, dirty cars, blurry images, objects blocking the images) continues to be a problem.

Can I suggest that you create a sandbox page attached to your user name and place the photos there before you attach them to the car articles, and then invite a couple members of auto project to come in and review the images before they get assigned to articles. If you are willing to work with the project and take constructive criticism maybe we can get more of your images up to Wiki standards and into articles.

Also, you really need to watch the following:

1) The images that you are uploading are too large. They need to be resized to pixels, not inches or centimeters. When you upload these large images they take time to load on the end users computer and they waste space on the Wiki servers.

2) Please stop taking pictures through car glass. The images are blurry and are not of a quality that other people associate with Wikipedia.

3) Concentrate on quality, not quantity.

Again, I appreciate your enthusiasm, but if we can't get you to tighten up the images, we might have to place an RfC on your body of work to get a broader opinion on whether or not the contributions have merit. Stude62 01:09, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unlicensed images

Hi, I notice a number of your images, such as Image:Hyundai Accent Hatch '06.jpg, are missing license/copyright info. I've removed the "Image:Villager 1996-98.jpg|250px|1998 Mercury Villager" image because it is of poor quality. If you don't remember I brought this up before, yet you've continued to uplode images such as this one which was uploded several days after that. This is not a friendly request anymore. I strongly urge you to strongly urge you to stop uploding images with snow, rain, yellow blobs, and other things partially blocking the images. As you know this is not your first warning. [edit] Image:Saturn S-Series Coupe.jpg

I assume you also took this image, but you don't mention it on the image page, so I need you to confirm this. The easiest way to do this is simply for you to say something like, "I took this image. {{GFDL-self}}" on the image description page, linked above. Regarding the repeated messages regarding the quality of your images, personally, I feel that any free image is better than nothing, and so I'm totally pleased that you are uploading what you are uploading. The images do clearly need work, in the ways that have been explained, but some of that can be done by others after you upload them, and the other problems do not make the images worthless, just not as good as they could be. Don't be discouraged. JesseW, the juggling janitor 11:04, 26 March 2006 (UTC)

An image or media file that you uploaded, Image:Pre-1995 Sable Wagon.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please look there to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you.

The following image Image:Pre-1995 Sable Wagon.jpg has been listed for comment regarding its possible deletion. In this case, because of the quality of the image (in this case, lighting) does not show the subject in a fashion that information can be gleaned from the image. I also have to (again) suggest that you review your talk page regarding the overall quality of the images that you are uploading to Wikipedia. While tagging your images has been a problem in the past, several users have also asked you to focus on the quality of the images as well. Your text contributions to the automotive pages are very valued. Stude62 13:28, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:Toyota Tercel (1995-97).jpg

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Toyota Tercel (1995-97).jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. If you have any questions please ask them at the Image legality questions page. Thank you. Longhair 12:44, 31 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image quality - few tips

Use this image I took of my dad's Escort as an example of how to make a good image of a car
Use this image I took of my dad's Escort as an example of how to make a good image of a car

I noticed that many pf your images are of a very poor quality. Here are some things to keep in mind for creating a image of a car.

  • Lighting. The lighting in many of your images is very poor. try to take pictures of your cars in the middle of the day.
  • Angle: Try to take pictures of the front of the car
  • Objects: Try to refrain from uploading images with iteam blocking or in front of the subject
  • Snow: Do not take pictures of snow covered cars.
  • people: Like in your Geo metro image, you took the picture of the Geo, while you caught a woman in there. Since this is a encylopedia, do not upload images that contain people who may not want their faces plastered all over the internet. --Karrmann

[edit] LS a poor man's Town Car

While I could see how the LS could be refered to as a poor man's Town Car, being Lincoln's small entry-level sedan, I do not know whehter or not this is really due to a similaity between the door handles. I have not deleted the comment as I only own a Town Car, and am not really that familiar with the door handles of the LS, though I'll try and keep an eye out for them ;-) Nevertheless, I was wondering whether or not you could provide a source for this comment? Thank you. Regards, Signaturebrendel 05:08, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Possible RfC exists

Hi-

I'm going to attempt to communicate with one final time. Several Wikipedia members are considering an Request for Comment either on the quality of your images, or on your refusal to discuss the problems with your images (or practically anything else). To avoid this, I beg you to please respond to fellow users when they attempt to contact you regarding issues with the images or the edits.

You've begun to use image tags for your works, and you've also taken steps to remove people and other types of identification from your images, and I commend you on that. However the most recent batch of images still have ongoing problems that you have been asked to address and have not addressed.

As User: Karrmann tried to advise you there are some basic problems with your images; Karmann also provided you with a few tips (see above) on how to improve your images. I would also like to add that you are still adding images with file sizes that are too large, or need cropping to shift the focus from the shopping center parking lots (that you frequent) to the car itself. Furthermore, while you continue to use cars that are parked in private driveways (which I personally feel is bad form) your images continue to include distractions such as the ones in image Image:Cutlass Ciera.JPG which includes garbage cans backed up to the bumper - images like this one - are not encyclopediadic.

While I appreciate your energy and your desire to contribute, please, please stop adding images that are 1)to large (file size and pixel size) and 2)focus solely on the topic, not the surroundings.

Please acknowledge this comment before up loading additional images. Stude62 12:51, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Acura Legend Page

No way. The Seville was Cadillac's entry-level car up until 1997, but the Legend continued until 1995. The Seville used to compete with the 3-Series and other entry-level luxury cars up until the Catera would compete with the 3-Series in '97. The Deville & Legend only had coupes & sedans by that time, whereas the Seville only had a sedan, competing mainly with compact/midsize luxury cars. The Deville was a middle-class model that time, and had competed with the Volvo 700, Lincoln Continental, the 5-Series, the GS, and the J30. The Fleetwood, by far, was still Caddy's top-of-the-line model up until the Catera (which took over from the Seville as Caddy's entry-level car) arrived in '97, moving the Deville as the top-of-the-line Cadillac for the first time. However, the Vigor was Acura's answer to the Seville, 3-Series, G20, ES, 190E, etc.

Take Me Higher 21:24, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

No, the Cadillac Seville was at no point in the 1990s, Cadillac's entry-level luxo car, especially as it was more expensive than the Cadillac Deville until its run ended in 2004. The Seville competet with the 5-Series, while both the Deville and Fleetwood Bourgham competed with the 7-Series, as they were both full-size luxury sedans with their emphasis on comfort, not preformance as in the Seville or BMW 5-Series. Redgards, Signaturebrendel 01:29, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

TMH: I had this same argument before since I thought the Seville was the entry-level car. Then I looked up prices for all Seville versions and found that, as GB points out, it was in fact one of the company's priciest cars through its whole run. --SFoskett 17:45, 20 April 2006 (UTC)
I think that this belief is rooted in the first generation Seville being based significantly smaller in an era when bigger meant more expensive in US cars. When the first Seville rolled out I can remember that most people couldn't get over its price - you could get a bigger Cadillac for less money. Stude62 12:18, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
The Mercedes 500E was *not* a competitor to the Legend. It was powered by a V8 co-developed by Porsche, was rear-wheel-drive and was better equipped, faster and much more expensive then the Legend. It's primary competition in North America was from the BMW 540 and M5 and the Audi S6. It held essentially the same spot at the time as does the E55 now.

[edit] Overlinking

Please do not link every date mentioned in automotive articles, such as Lexus GS. They are rarely relevant to the context of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Make only links relevant to the context. Thanks, DonIncognito 01:32, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

I would like to reiterate Don's request. I have been reverting some of your overlinkage. Do not add links to dates in automotive articles unless there is a specific reason for doing so. Likewise, there is no reason to link every mention of Europe, Japan and North America. --Pc13 11:46, 24 April 2006 (UTC)
It is likewise not necessary to change the link for a City, State to two separate links for City and State. Merci, DonIncognito 02:06, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Second request

Hi- I am asking, for the second time in as many days that we begin begin a dialogue about the quality of your images. You continue to upload images that are either too large, or do not meet standards agreed upon by the Automobile Project members. You are also placing images in into articles that haven't been cropped or have poor image qualities (bad lighting, incomplete views, etc.)

I fyou feel that a third party would be of help, we can work this through the Wikipedia:Mediation Cabal if you would like. This is offered in all sincerity. Stude62 02:17, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Cars From Magazines

Hello. I used a scanner to scan pictures from a magazine of the 2006 Montreal Auto Show. The first image was the '06 Mitsubishi Galant, which I scanned to add on the Mitsubishi Galant page.

Take Me Higher 20:03, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for responding! While the it is a good idea to scan pictures from sales and show brochures, the Galant picture still suffers from somewhat low quality, I'm going to try and photoshop it, to make it look better. Otherwise please make sure your photos are of high quality. Also, thank you for using the correct copyright tags and covering up the license plate. [edit] Dodge's '80s/'90s Evolutions

Since the LeBaron was based on the Dodge Aries/Dodge Lancer, the LeBaron became a Dodge Spirit clone in 1989. The Aries wasn't replaced by the Spirit, but was replaced by the Shadow (introduced in 1987).

Dodge's Evolution:

Omni -> (N/A)
Colt -> Neon Lancer (1960s) -> Dart -> Aspen -> Aries -> Shadow -> Neon/SX2.0/SRT4 -> Caliber
Lancer (1980s) -> Spirit -> Stratus -> Avenger
400 -> 600 -> Monaco (US)/2000GTX (Canada) -> Intrepid -> Charger/Magnum
Diplomat -> Dynasty -> Intrepid -> Charger/Magnum

By far, the Colt/Mirage were considered subcompacts. Dodge lost its only subcompact, the Colt in 1995 to make room for the Neon, which became a compact car.

And the Caravelle, of course was replaced by the . The Eagle Premier (and by far the Dodge Monaco) were midsize sedans, same with the Dodge 600. The Monaco replaced the 600 as Dodge's high-end midsize sedan.

Take Me Higher 16:24, 22 April 2006 (UTC)

The Monaco never replaced the 600, the Monaco was only created because Chrysler had a surplus of PRV engines it needed to use up. The Spirit replaced both the Lancer and the 600. The LeBaron became a Spirit clone in 1990, not 1989. BTW, you should look up some of the previous discussions on your talk page; it's very important that you read them. --ApolloBoy 19:24, 22 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Corolla Wagon (1990s).jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Corolla Wagon (1990s).jpg.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sue Anne 20:32, 23 April 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Toyota Echo (4-Door Hatchback).jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. [edit] CX-7 Competition

First of all, the CX-7 isn't a RAV4/CR-V/Tucson/Outlander competitor, it's a Highlander/Murano/Pilot/Santa Fe competitor. The Tribute, by far, competes with the RAV4/CR-V/Tucson/Outlander. The CX-7 is similar in size to the Kia Sorento, BTW. The CX-7 & CX-9 both share the CD3 platform. The Sorento is a midsize SUV, by far, not a compact. Most consider the Sorento as a near-luxury midsize SUV. The CX-7 isn't similar in price to a Highlander or Pilot, it's similar in price to an FJ Cruiser or Xterra. The CX-7 will be having a longer wheelbase than the 2001-2006 Highlander, so the CX-7 IS a Highlander/Pilot competitor.

Please look there to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you.

Just to clarify, magazine cover images only qualify for fair use if they "illustrate the publication of the issue of the magazine in question". Using such an image to illustrate an individual car does not qualify. This issue has come up in other areas (for instance, many athlete pages had Sports Illustrated cover images that were being used as portraits, but these are being removed for the same reason). -Big Smooth 23:01, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

The period for the Request for Comment on your image contributions is drawing to a conclusion and will be closed shortly. We know that you read the comments on your talk page because you periodically respond to them, and thus its pretty safe to say that you are aware of the RfC action. I've had a feelin' the Ford Fusion also competes with the Impala. Both Fusion & Impala are mid-size cars, but the Impala also competes with the full-sized Five Hundred.

Take Me Higher 23:52, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

The Malibu competes with the Fusion, not the Impala. --ApolloBoy 23:44, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
The new Impala is quite a bit larger than the Fusion. As a matter of fact, most rental car companies advertise the Impala as their full-size sedan choice. Thanks. Regards, Signaturebrendel 02:06, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
That, and the EPA classifies the Impala as a "large car", not a mid-size.

[edit] The nonsense ends NOW

Ok, I see you are going back to your old ways of takeing pictures of cars from the back and obstructed. You refuse to talk about your images, completely ignored our RFC, uploaded better images, then after it all blows over, you upload crappy pics again. STOP IT NOW, ok, only upload pics to Wikipedia if they are good quality. That means no scanned promo images, no images of the back of cars that are all rusted up, like the images you added to the GMC Vandura article. Just stop it. Add good images, or just stick to text editing. Karrmann 01:26, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

For the love of all that is holy, is it THAT bloody hard to take pictures of clean cars from the front and not having your finger get in the way?
It is said that shoemakers should not be butchers, and vice versa. Maybe YOU should not be a photographer. DonIncognito 20:04, 26 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Now, The Ford Edge/Dodge Nitro Competition

It will compete with the Chevy Equinox, despite being a low-end mid-size SUV. Ford will have 3 mid-size SUVs (Edge, Freestyle, Explorer). The Ford Edge's rival will also be the Dodge Nitro. The Edge will be an Equinox-sized SUV. Sometimes the Edge is considered a high-end compact SUV. The Equinox competes with both the Edge & Escape, the Trailblazer competes with the Explorer & Freestyle, the Tahoe with the standard Expedition and the Suburban with the Expedition EL.

And in Canada, Chevy's got 3 mid-size cars (Epica, Impala, Malibu). The Malibu & Epica have got the same wheelbase.

Dodge Nitro's rivals will be Toyota's Highlander, FJ Cruiser & RAV4, so far, while the Durango could compete with Toyota's 4Runner, Land Cruiser & Sequoia.

Take Me Higher 00:02, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

Also, the Ford Edge's wheelbase is shorter than the Chevy Equinox.

Take Me Higher 23:27, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] 2007: The Year Of High-End Compact SUVs

Does the new CX-7 compete with the FJ Cruiser, despite being released at the same time?

2007 will unveil: Toyota FJ Cruiser Ford Edge Dodge Nitro Mazda CX-7

All of the mentioned SUVs will compete with the Chevy Equinox.

Take Me Higher 03:52, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

All of the SUVs except for the FJ Cruiser are not compact, they're mid-sized.

[edit] Lumina Page Update!

Well, so far, the Stratus competed with the Malibu & Contour (other competitors were the 626, Accord, Altima, Galant & Sonata), whereas in the late 90's, the Intrepid competed with the Lumina & Taurus. The Lumina & Intrepid were top-line sedans for Chevy & Dodge, respectively. MSN's 1997-1999 competition for the Lumina was mostly involved with the Dodge Intrepid (as well as the Accord & Camry), and the Intrepid's competitor was mostly for the Lumina & Taurus. [1]

Take Me Higher 17:36, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Suzuki Esteem Update

According to MSN, 2002 was the last year of the Esteem. The Aerio became the successor for the Swift in the U.S., and the Esteem in Canada. Suzuki dropped its Esteem after 2002, and replaced it with the Daewoo-based Forenza. The Swift returned after a 2-year hiatus in Canada as the Swift+. Take Me Higher 01:36, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

Your misguided edits to the Suzuki Cultus and Suzuki Aerio articles, as well as your redirection of Suzuki Esteem to the Cultus page, have been reverted. Although based mechanically on the Swift, the Esteem was not its sedan version, but a larger model made to fight with other C-segment cars such as the Nissan Sunny and Toyota Corolla. Your confusion stems from the fact that, before Suzuki introduced the Cultus Crescent (Esteem/Baleno in the rest of the world), its sedan version was called Esteem, but in the Japanese market only (the export model was called Swift Sedan). --Pc13 10:56, 5 June 2006 (UTC)
The Cultus was the Japanese name for the Swift. Unlike your assertion, the Aerio could not possibly replace the Swift, because it was larger even than the Esteem. The Swift's replacement in the rest of the world was the Suzuki Ignis/Chevrolet Cruze, which was never available in North America (coincidentally, it was called Swift in Japan). The US importer did not directly replace the Swift (although the Reno/Forenza did take over some of the slack), but the Canadian one did. You will notice that, because of the existence of the Swift+, the Reno and Forenza are not available as Suzuki models in Canada, but as Chevrolets. However, the Aerio is available in Canada, another indication that this was always intended as a replacement for the Esteem. So is the fact that the Aerio has a 2.3 L engine, while the Reno and Forenza have smaller motors (2.0 L), so that even though their size is similar, they can be marketed below the Aerio. --Pc13 10:56, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Bogus successors

I don't know why, but lately you've been adding *very* strange choices for successors to certain cars. For example, you said the Saturn Aura was the "successor" to the Oldsmobile Alero, even though the two are three years apart and are too different from each other to even be considered successors. You also added the Saab 9-7X as the successor to the Oldsmobile Bravada. The Buick Rainier is the only successor to the Bravada because the Rainier uses the Bravada's bodyshell and Buick has almost the same customer base that Oldsmobile had; the 9-7X has its own bodyshell and Saab has a totally different customer base than either Buick or Oldsmobile. Please stop doing this. Thanks. --ApolloBoy 02:03, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Sunfire Coupe (1995-1999).jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Sunfire Coupe (1995-1999).jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. [edit] Sockpuppetry

Please note that using two different accounts at the same time without a substantial reason amounts to sockpuppetry - see WP:SOCK. Please decide on one username and stick with it. Bravada, talk - 00:50, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

I go for Bull-Doser! -- Bull-Doser 00:54, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
This is not sockpuppetry. Only one account is active. Karrmann 01:28, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
Actually its okay to have two accounts, so long you do not use them for any ill-conceived scheme to sway election results. Also, as long as you let everyone know that you have two accounts its okay, just keep a statement on each user page, informing your fellow editors of your accounts. Regards, Signaturebrendel 02:36, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
Well, it is permissible, but I believe it is bad practice to do so without a reason. The reason why this user has two accounts is lost password, nothing else, so it would only serve confusion (not everybody checks every user page) to use both accounts. Bravada, talk - 03:55, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
"It is bad practice"- yes it is frowned upon and for good reason (the ones you just mentioned). Anyways, I just didn't want Bull-doser to think that what he does is outright against WP policy. Regards, Signaturebrendel 06:38, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Chrysler Newport 1977.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Chrysler Newport 1977.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Chowbok 19:08, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wikiproject Automobiles Notification

Hi Take Me Higher, you were on the list of members at WikiProject Automobiles and we are introducing a new way of listing members, as the old list was becoming too long. Our new method involves having all of our members in a category.

To add yourself to the category just add the userbox to your user page by putting {{Wiki Auto Project}} where you want the userbox. Alternatively if you don't like the userbox you can add [[Category:WikiProject Automobiles members|Take Me Higher]] to your userpage.

If you no longer wish to be a member of the project, simply don't add the userbox or category, there's no pressure. Thanks for your time, James086Talk | Contribs 04:32, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
