Takuya Yamada (born 24 August 1974 in Tokyo) is a Japanese football player who currently plays for Yokohama FC. He was capped 4 times for the Japanese national team between 2003 and 2004.

Known as the J-League Iron man, his physical and mental strength and presence on the field is big. His nick name that the supporter gave him was “Mr. Verdy” by serving as Tokyo Verdy 1969's captain for 3 years with his strong leadership. Charismatic player that is highly respected and one of the best utility players that Japan has produced.

Yamada surprised the Australian football community by arriving unannounced to trial with Adelaide United in mid-December 2006, [1] [2] the J-League season having finished on 2 December 2006. Adelaide United has a guaranteed spot in Group G of the 2007 Asian Champions League and needs a high-profile Asian player as a temporary replacement for injured former Chinese national striker, Shengqing Qu.[3]. Media reports in January 2007 suggested that attacking midfield Brazilian Miami FC player, Diego Walsh had been preferred, signing for the Reds for 2-and-a-half years. Reports suggested that Walsh was preferred to Yamada due to his more advanced VISA status meaning Walsh was likely to be available sooner to play for the Reds.[4]

Yokohama FC of the J-League has officially announced that he has joined its team on 3rd June 2007. The head coach Takuya Takagi is excited to have this highly respected player on its roster.
