Takt 10

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Takt 10 refers to the concept of having a maximum period of time that a passenger could expect to wait within a specific urban area for service to specific destination within that same area. While this expectation might be an hour for someone traveling from a suburb to the city center, the Takt 10 concept has identified an intra-urban market that would offer passengers a wait of no longer than 10 minutes for the conveyance of their choice, be it bus, tram, subway (U-Bahn), or suburban rail (S-Bahn) along the Stammstrecke (main line).

As a means of competing against private transport options, Takt 10 would obviate concerns about delays or weather exposure, and allow a measure of confidence that incommodation would be kept to a minimum, as the city (Stadtwerke Muenchen "SWM") would guarantee some solution to any extraordinary circumstances, such as taxi, special vehicles (Ersatzverkehr), or other alternatives.
