Taksim Stadium was the first football stadium in İstanbul. It was built in 1921 and located in the center of the city, Taksim. The ground was home of all the football clubs in İstanbul included Galatasaray S.K., Fenerbahçe S.K. and Beşiktaş J.K. The stadium had a capacity around 8,000. It was demolished in 1940, because of the renovation of Taksim Square. The site was converted to a public park.
First game of Turkey national football team played in Taksim Stadium against Romania national football team in 1923.
