[edit] History
- December 20, 1914 - Keihin Line (presently the Keihin-Tōhoku Line) opened the first electrified service between Tokyo and Yokohama, with Takashimachō-eki (高島町駅, Takashimachō-eki?) as its temporary terminus on the Yokohama side.
- August 15, 1915 - The station was renamed Yokohama Station (横浜駅, Yokohama-eki?), the 2nd station ever to be designated as such, as part of the Tōkaidō Line. The 1st ever "Yokohama Station" was renamed Sakuragichō Station (桜木町駅, Sakuragichō-eki?) at this time.
- May 18, 1928 - Tokyo Yokohama Railway (presently Tōkyū Tōyoko Line) opened its station here as Takashima-eki (高島駅, Takashima-eki?).
- August 8, 1928 - Tokyo Yokohama Railway renamed its station Hon-Yokohama-eki (本横浜駅, Hon-Yokohama-eki?).
- October 15, 1928 - JNR moved Yokohama Station (and Tōkaidō Line) north to the current location, thereby ending its service here.
- January 20, 1931 - The station is renamed back to the original Takashimachō-eki (高島町駅, Takashimachō-eki?).
- September 4, 1976 - Inauguration of the Yokohama Municipal Subway Line 3, and its station underground.
- January 31, 2004 - Due to Tōyoko Line's Yokohama-Sakuragichō segment being closed, the Tōyoko Line's station was closed. (All facilities except the overhead wiring still remain.)
