Takasaki Line local train (E231 Series EMU)
The Takasaki Line (高崎線, Takasaki-sen?) is a 74.7-kilometre railway line that runs from Ōmiya Station in Saitama, Saitama, Japan to Takasaki Station in Takasaki, Gunma. It is owned and operated by the East Japan Railway Company (JR East).
Train services on the line are extended to and from Ueno Station in Tokyo via Tōhoku Main Line. Calling the whole 101.6-kilometre Ueno-Takasaki section of "Takasaki Line" is acceptable.
As the cities serviced includes important cities like Ageo, Okegawa, Kitamoto, Kōnosu, Kumagaya, Fukaya and Honjō in Saitama Prefecture, it is a vital line for the prefecture. The National Highway Route 17 and its historical predecessor Nakasendō run near this line.
