Tajima, Fukushima

Tajima (田島町; -machi) was a town located in Minamiaizu District, Fukushima, Japan. It is the largest town in the Minamiaizu district and in the summer holds the locally famous Gion Festival, not to be confused with the Tobata Gion Festival in Kyushu.

As of 2003, the town has an estimated population of 13,142 and a density of 37.51 persons per km². The total area is 350.34 km².

On March 20th, 2006 Tajima merged with surrounding villages Ina, Nangou and Tateiwa to form the new municipality of Minamiaizu Town and the town itself no longer has official status.
