Taj Mahal Marathon

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Taj Mahal Marathon is a new race to be held every year in March in northern India around the world-famous monument, Taj Mahal.

The course starts at the hilltop, Taj Khema, that has a spectacular view of Taj Mahal. From here, the route goes into a rural and secluded part of India, very seldomly visited by tourists. The course runs past sunflower fields populated by wild peacocks and through villages where time and modern development seem to have stopped decates ago. The race finishes back at Taj Khema, where marathoners can recover their breath and celebrate their accomplishment under the shadows of Taj Mahal.

Together with the marathon entry and airline ticket, a tour package including some of northern India's best sights are offered.

The inaugural Taj Mahal Marathon takes place on Saturday March 8, 2008.
