[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:US Sevens Rugby Team in New Zealand.jpg

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:US Sevens Rugby Team in New Zealand.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Sdrtirs (talk) 04:28, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Anglosphere

Hello, I've reverted your changes. I do not believe it is appropriate to exclude Quebec. You're welcome to discuss the matter on the talk page of the article. Joeldl (talk) 09:22, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi, your map shows Ireland colored Blue, and the caption states "Another view of the Anglosphere: countries with substantial populations having British or Irish ancestral origins, excluding Quebec, where French is the widely used language". Why did you decide to include Ireland and to state/assert/imply that the Anglosphere originates from both British and Irish? The lead paragraph states that the shared history is from the United Kingdom - which Ireland is not a part of - and the term Anglo is usually associated with English or British (i.e. Anglo-Irish Agreement). Perhaps the image should exclude the Republic of Ireland and only include Northern Ireland, which is part of the UK. --Bardcom (talk) 10:51, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
Actually, I only did the photo which is exactly the same as before except that i removed Quebec, i didnt actually write the caption was is still the same as it was for the old photo. So i didnt state anything. Taifarious1 21:43, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

I've copied your comments on my talk page to Talk:Anglosphere and responded there. Joeldl (talk) 21:52, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] ANZUS

Why there is a update tag at the top of the article? Otolemur crassicaudatus (talk) 11:00, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

Im not sure as I didnt put it there, but if I was to guess I would say it was about updating the section about the potential FTA between NZ and the US, which is already outlined in the New Zealand-United States relations article I created but I would be happy to update it if you would like. Taifarious1 11:02, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
OK, then it will be good to update the article and to remove the tag. BTW, may I suggest you to reduce the size of your signature? Otolemur crassicaudatus (talk) 11:04, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
K, ill update it now, or link it to the section in the aformentioned artcile, and btw your not the first person to mention my signature, so I have reduced it Taifarious1 11:06, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Military history of New Zealand during World War II

Have you seen Military history of New Zealand during World War II? - Shudde talk 09:37, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

yes, why? Taifarious1 09:52, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
Are you sure this isn't a little redundant? The US and NZ relationship during the war was more as part of a larger multi-lateral relationship then a bi-lateral one. - Shudde talk 11:15, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
I'm assuming you have my WIP on your watchlist now then, either that or you just trawl for articles on my page that you can unilaterally post, seeing as you have a history of that sort of thing. But thats neither here nor there. So, to answer your question, no, i dont think it is redundant, mainly because when i went trawling through all this I was pressed to find much information on NZ-US cooperation in WWII, and just because im crafting the article doesnt mean that ill post it when im done, if i dont like the look of it, I wont post it, another reason I was quite upset when you posted my earlier WIP even though it was nowhere near ready. Taifarious1 11:22, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
Yeah this has nothing to do with that, and yes it was on my watch list. I'm just wondering whether all your writing is necessary. If the Military history of New Zealand during World War II doesn't have much information about US-NZ co-operation (or NZ-any ally co-operation) it might be better to add it to that article rather then create a new one. Don't take it personal, this isn't a criticism, I'm just trying to prevent you wasting any of your time. - Shudde talk 11:28, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Image listed at WP:PUI

Hello -

An image you uploaded, Image:US Sevens Rugby Team in New Zealand.jpg, was listed at WP:CP as a copyright infringement on May 3. I'm working there tonight and I've investigated the report. I've removed the image from the copyright problems list, and instead I've listed it at WP:PUI as a possibly unfree image.

I did this for several reasons. First, the information in your upload summary infers the photographer gives permission only for Wikipedia to use this image. However, his other images at Flickr have a clear 'all rights reserved' notice. Images used at Wikipedia must be released under a free license that does not bar commercial use, modification, or redistribution. The image is also tagged as in the public domain, when neither the rationale nor the photographer's Flickr images say anything about public domain release of the image. Lastly, the message that is copied into the upload summary is insufficient, because we don't know who 'Tom' is, or that he even owns the copyright.

Instead, follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission, and ask the photographer to release the image under a free license. Use the declaration of consent there or something similar, so there's no ambiguity about his intentions or ours. When you get a reply, forward it to the Wikimedia Foundation, and OTRS will take it from there. Don't be disappointed if he says no, though, and don't take it personally if he refuses.

The listing at WP:PUI will stay open for 14 days before it's closed and processed. I could have speedy-deleted the image under WP:CSD#I3, but you're an experienced editor and you uploaded this image in good faith, so you should have sufficient time to make a request to the photographer for a free license. Your 14 days starts now. :-) Let me know if you have any further questions or need help. Thanks. - KrakatoaKatie 02:00, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

Hey. Under the permission section of the summary the message is a copy that explicitly states the photographers willingness to allow it to be used on the article, I dont see how that can be disputed, but if you are not happy with this I will reemail the photographer asking for a lisence chnage if you are still not satisfied.
