Sir,

This article contains inaccuracies such as Tailapa II defeating Raja Raja Chola in 992 and that too by describing him as vanquishing, which is to say the least a far fetched thought. The writer of this article should have known the opinion about five kings of India held by prominent historians viz. Ashoka the Great, Samudragupta of Gupta Dynasty, Narasimhavarman I of Pallava Dynasty, Raja Raja Chola and Rajendra I of the Chola dynasties which is that they have never lost any war in their lives. Tailapa II himself had only reclaimed the throne from the Rashtrakutas and no attempt has been made to explain whether it was an invasion by Raja Raja Chola which was defeated or was it an invasion by him of the Chola country that he is supposed to have vanquished Raja Raja Chola. To prove my point pls. see for yourself another Wikipedia page on Raja Raja I - who became king in 985 and did not undertake any war expedition directly or indirectly till the 8th year of his reign which has to be 993. In fact his first expedition was to the Kerala country in 994 whereas Tailapa II would have ruled from Manyakheta or Badami/Pattadakallu and there may not have been any connection between Tailapa II and Raja Raja I. Pls. see excerpts from the wikipedia page on Raja Raja I yourself:

Southern Wars The southern kingdoms of Pandyas, Cheras and the Sinhalas were often allied against the Cholas.[5] It was the case when Rajaraja came to the throne. Rajaraja's initial campaigns were against the combined Pandya and Chera armies. There is no evidence of any military campaign undertaken by Rajaraja until the eighth year of his reign. During this period he was engaged in organising and augumenting his army and in preparing for military expeditions.[6][7]

[edit] Kandalur Salai The very first military achievement of Rajaraja’s reign was the campaign in the Kerala country c 994 C.E..

Therefore, I request that this completely inaccurate reference which amounts to falsification of history supporting the hollow claim of Tailapa II 'vanquishing' Raja Raja I be removed from this page.

  1. Request for WP:3O - reference of Tailapa-II's victory over Raja Raja I - not backed with any historical verifiable evidence and hence considered wrong by me and backed by me with verifiable proofs in the form of Tailapa-II's own inscriptions (http://www.visitchitradurga.com/linkfiles/historyfiles/rechalukya.php
