Can anyone confirm the year the town was founded? I thought it was in the 1890s. The page implies it was the mid-1800s. Neil Dodgson 22:22, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

Found an entry in the 1966 Encyclopaedia of New Zealand which verifies that the town was founded in 1894 Neil Dodgson 22:08, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
