Tainai (胎内市 Tainai-shi?) is a city located in Niigata Prefecture, Japan.

As of April 1, 2005, it has an area of 265.18 km² and a population of 33,309.

The city was established on September 1, 2005 as a result of the merger between the town of Nakajo and the village of Kurokawa from Kitakanbara District.
