Tai ji massage

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tai Ji Massage focuses on the Qi/Chi. Like Shiatsu it uses the energy points to improve the flow of Qi through the body. Inside the body Qi is moved by the mind. This follows the popular Tai Chi Chuan principle - "The mind moves the Qi, the Qi moves the Body." Tai Ji Massage was developed by Richard Wickes, a long time Student of Tai Ji Grandmaster of Prof. Lu Jin Chuan.

The massage practitioner must have a quiet mind and inner peace. According to Tai Ji Quan this inner peace is called sinking the Qi to the Dan Tian. This quieting of the mind is essential for Tai Ji Massage and supports a form of partner Meditation. Individual techniques of Tai Ji Massage are: Qi Diagnosis, Yin-Yang technique, breath technique. Tai Ji Massage is particularly useful in treating psychosomatic illnesses, chronic injuries, and tension.
