Tai Po Kau Station
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Tai Po Kau Station (Chinese: 大埔滘車站), located in Tai Po Kau in the New Territories, was a railway station on the British section of Kowloon-Canton Railway in Hong Kong. Close to Tai Po Hoi, a pier serving northeast New Territories was built near the station made Tai Po Kau a transportation hub.
The station was a traditional Chinese architecture.[citation needed]
As roads and public transport was improved in the area and as the depopulation of remote villages, the importance of the station and the pier declined quickly. The station was abandoned when the railway was electrified in 1980s.
In 1990s, the station structure was removed and replaced with staff quarters of KCRC.
