[edit] Creating pages at wikipedia

Welcome to Wikipedia. A page you recently created may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines for new pages, so it will shortly be removed (if it hasn't been already). Please use the sandbox for any tests you may want to do and please read our introduction page to learn more about contributing. Thank you. The big issue with these pages is that they seem to be about people which do not qualify as notable enough under Wikipedia guidelines. You might want to read the notability guideline and the biography guideline for more information on how to write articles about notable people. --Jayron32|talk|contribs 04:55, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Deleted articles

Thanks for your message on my talk page. I did not delete the articles in question; I am not an administrator, so I do not have that power. I may have marked them for attention for an admin to look at them for possible deletion. The main issue (if I recall correctly) was that the articles gave no indication of the notability of their subjects. Understand that Wikipedia has a very specific definition of notability, which can be found here: WP:N. In order to be notable enough to merit an encyclopedia article, a subject must have already been written about extensively by someone else. In order to show that, the article should reference those sources. They can be either print sources (like magazines, journals, newspapers or books) or online sources, but they must be independant of their subject (so, for example, a biography of a person published by his/her employer on their company website cannot be used to establish notability) and they must be reliable (see WP:RS), in the sense that they exhibit some form of editorial control (for example, a well circulated newspaper, or a book published by a reputable publishing house, or an online source which is edited and vetted like either of those). Unedited sources, such as self-published zines or blogs or internet forums are not considered reliable. If the articles in question did get deleted, and you think they should not have, please feel free to recreate them IF you can add reliable sources which show that their subjects are notable. If no information exists outside of Wikipedia to verify their notability (see WP:V also), then Wikipedia guidelines mandate that they probably do not merit an article. However, you seem to assert that these people are important, so I am sure you have access to sources which can prove that. If you need any more help, please feel free to drop another note on my talk page. --Jayron32|talk|contribs 06:02, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Changing your username

I also see that you would like to have your username changed. A beaurocrat can do that if you go here: Wikipedia:Changing username. This requires special attention from a very high level sysop known as a Beurocrat, but if you ask nicely, I am sure they can help you out. --Jayron32|talk|contribs 06:05, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
