[edit] Taelons.com

A brief dig through whois shows that both the official efc.com and taelons.com are owned by Chicago Tribune (Tribune Entertainment Company) in Chicago, IL. Naturally taelons.com is a promotional vehicle, not a real website run by actual aliens (frankly, you'd think actual aliens would have a much better website than that). -- Finlay McWalter | Talk 11:51, 12 Aug 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Castes

I'm not sure if I misheard or not, but in episode 14 of season 1, Rho-ha (I think) mentioned that Da'an suits his caste (of a diplomat) well. So, either I really did mishear it, or there's some information missing from the article, or that part of Taelon society was never re-visited in the series in greater depth. --M.A. 22:57, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

OK, I'm pretty sure of it now. Boone expanded that in the same episode by saying: "Taelons divide themselves to functional castes. They have bureocrats, diplomats, scientists, artists,...". --M.A.
Yes, the references are correct. Also correct is that the idea was not much developed - some individuals were shown as "scientists", for example, but not explicated as being members of a caste. Early episodes may have used caste as a guide to "uniform" color, but this is supposition. Voideater 22:50, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Free Will vs. the Commonality

It is not clear if the various statements that individual Taelons cannot act against the Commonality (the combined majority rule of the Taelon consciousness) is literal or more a moral imperative. If literal, then every action taken by any Taelon is explicitly the will of the majority of the Taelons. It seems more in keeping with the show's early season explorations to view the statement as more an ethical burden than a literal restriction, similar to the statement that, "Vulcans cannot lie" - a generalism born from deep cultural and perhaps biologic imperatives, but not a statement of fact in all cases. [edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Da'an.jpg

Image:Da'an.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] official website

I am going to remove the link on the article page to the official website since it has been down since early march and as such is leading to a blank page, if the page returns feel free to put it back on but for now I don't see any reason for it to be there.
