Taenioides cirratus is a goby of the Gobiidae family.[1] It is predominantly found in coastal waters and estuaries,[2] as well as rivers[3] in offshore islands of East Africa, India, and Australia.[1] It has been reported from Japan,[4] Bangladesh,[5] New Guinea[3] and New Caledonia.[6] This mud-dweller[1] is capable of living out of the water for considerable time by taking air into the bronchial chambers.[2] Up to 30 cm long,[1] it feeds on crustaceans and other invertebrates.[7]
