Taeke Wiebe Doekes Taekema (born January 14, 1980 in Leiderdorp) is a Dutch field hockey player, who won the silver medal with the national squad at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. He is famous and feared for his devastating penalty corner drag flicks. He made his debut on January 28, 2000 in a friendly match in and against Egypt. Since then the defender has played over hundred international matches for the Dutch.
During the 2007 EuroHockey Nations Championship, Taekema struck a record 16 goals, including a double hat trick against Belgium in the semi-finals. In celebration of his record breaking feat, sportswear maker Adidas introduced its limited edition TT10 hockey stick, whose name incorporates Taekema's initials and jersey number.
Taekema played for L.O.H.C. (Leidsche en Oegstgeester Hockey Club) before moving to HC Klein Zwitserland, where the topscorer of the Dutch League (2002-2003) was a team member until the spring of 2005. Then it turned out to be he had signed a contract with Amsterdam, who got him a job. In response to the news the club removed him immediately from the team, so he couldn't finish the season with Klein Zwitserland.
