[edit] Early life
Chicago native Joseph Tadhg Kelly (aka Tadhg, pronounced "tayg") was born on October 3, 1988 [aged 19] to hotel industry executive, Albert Kelly and life coach, Marta Chausee. He is the youngest of four children. Performing was his first love and he won his first piano competition when he was in first grade. At the same time, Kelly acted in his first dramatic lead role. He won a city-wide art contest in the third grade for his portrait of Mexican painter, Diego Rivera. He and his family relocated to Claremont California in 1996 where he wasted no time in harnessing his performing skills. Kelly sang in musicals, went on tour with choir groups and eventually appeared in various TV shows and feature films. Kelly is also one of the true-life main characters in the Jeremy Iversen book 'High School Confidential' . The book details Iversen's posing as a student at Claremont High School.
[edit] Career
Ben Singer is played by Kelly on Nickelodeon’s television series, Unfabulous. He is big brother to Addie Singer (Emma Roberts). The siblings are portrayed polar opposites. Ben is a character of the prankster archetype who relishes causing trouble that usually ends with a moral lesson being learned either by himself or the targeted party.
Speaking on his character Kelly says -- "In a sense, we are a lot alike, but Ben is more extreme. I'd like to think I'm not that self-absorbed."
Tadhg Kelly's latest role is that of "Johnny Sweet", a lovable musician in a new comedy co-starring Malese Jow. The series, set to release in April 2008, is tentatively titled "S.P.: Untitled" and will allow fans to direct the subsequent filming. The untitled comedy is a coming of age story about a brother and sister who set out to make it in the LA entertainment scene. Previously, Tadhg Kelly and Malese Jow worked together on Nickelodeon's television series, Unfabulous. [1]
Kelly is also in an as-yet unreleased indie film, "Garden Party". [1] Today he prefers playing the guitar to playing the piano and is currently recording his first CD. The CD is mainly acoustic with a touch of blues. [1]
SP Untitled is the center of web buzz regarding the nature of the show - which has largely remained mysterious. Both Jow and Kelly have blogs on their myspace.com profile regarding the upcoming release of the show. [1]
