In this Japanese name, the family name is Sumiyoshi.

Tadashi Sumiyoshi (住吉 正?) was a Major General and a commander in the Imperial Japanese Army during the Pacific campaign in World War II. During the strategically significant Guadalcanal campaign, Sumiyoshi commanded the 17th Army's artillery units along with two supporting infantry regiments during the Battle for Henderson Field. Surviving the Japanese defeat on Guadalcanal, Sumiyoshi was placed in command of the artillery units in the Eastern Army District, based in Tokyo in September, 1944.[1]
