[edit] Pre-Program
Tadakatsu Hatagami is one of the class of third-year students at the fictional Shiroiwa Junior High School. He was a tall, well-built boy who played on the baseball team. He is described as having average looks, with short, spiked hair, and slight acne on his cheeks. Tadakatsu used to be good friends with Shuya Nanahara, but they fell out after Shuya left the baseball team. He was close friends with Yuichiro Takiguchi, whom he had known since primary school.
[edit] During The Program
Tadakatsu's issued weapon in the novel was a Smith & Wesson M19 .357 Magnum. In the manga version, he is issued with a baseball bat, but swaps weapons with Yuichiro. He manages to meet up with his friend Yuichiro, and they choose to travel together.
In the novel and manga, when Mitsuko Souma crept up on Tadakatsu, intending to kill him, Yuichiro interrupted her. The two of them took Mitsuko hostage, Tadakatsu refusing to trust her. While Tadakatsu was sleeping, Yuichiro released her from the ropes tying her hands.
Later on, when Tadakatsu was taking his turn to guard Mitsuko while Yuichiro slept, she attempted to seduce him, and then attacked him with a razorblade she had hidden on her collar using tape. Tadakatsu realised what she was doing, and chased her with his gun. When Yuichiro tried to protect Mitsuko, Tadakatsu accidentally shot him. While he was distracted by this, Mitsuko hits him in the nose with her sickle, then stabs him in the top of the head and the eye with it. In the novel Mitsuko grabs Tadakatsu's baseball bat and knocks him on the ground. She then beats his face in repeatedly. In the film, it is implied that Mitsuko lures both Yuichiro and Tadakatsu to their deaths with the promise of sex. After stabbing the two to death, Mitsuko is seen getting dressed and leaving behind their naked corpses.
