[edit] Move

Could this be either made into a page discussing tackling in the various football codes around the world, or shifted to tackle (American football or some other more appropriate title? --Robert Merkel 03:48 Oct 3, 2002 (UTC)

I don't mind at all. Of course, I don't know about any of the other "football" games besides American Football (well, and soccer, but I don't think that's what you're talking about), so if there's an ambiguity, you'll have to find it and resolve it. There are also some articles like Football tackle, which I'm not sure if they should be Football tackle or tackle (football) or tackle (American football) b4hand 06:16 Oct 3, 2002 (UTC)

This shouldn't be just American football tackle. The tackle in US football is too similar to the one in Canadian football and probably other sports for example to have a separate listing. -stoltz

[edit] Merging

I think the information on this page should be merged into Offensive tackle, since that's the best name for the page. Tackle (American football) should be a disambig page to offensive tackle and defensive tackle. -- Mwalcoff 23:41, 3 April 2006 (UTC)

  • I agree with Mwalcoff.--MP123 21:17, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
  • I also agree with MWalcoff. The idea of there being both offensive and defensive positions called "tackle" could be very confusing to someone who's unfamiliar with football. -Hit bull, win steak(Moo!) 13:08, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
