Jaime Luis Gómez, (born July 14, 1975 in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles, California)[1] better known as Taboo Nawasha, is an American musical performer who achieved fame as a member of the Black Eyed Peas.

Taboo is of Mexican and Shoshone descent, and was raised in Rosemead, California. As a child he aspired to be a philanthropist, and did not turn to music until his late teens. He joined the Black Eyed Peas in 1995 - band mates apl.de.ap and will.i.am were originally in a group called Atban Klann, but changed the name after changing record labels. In 2003 Stacy Ferguson joined and completed the band's current lineup. Taboo is known for his Kung-Fu inspired dance moves (he is a practitioner of Jeet Kune Do) and an eclectic style of dress.

[edit] Beyond the Black Eyed Peas

Taboo attended Muscatel Middle School, and recently funded the graduation party for the graduating class of 2007. His son, Joshua Gomez, was part of the graduating class of 2007. Taboo was present at the graduation ceremony which took place in Muscatel Middle School on June 20, 2007.

Taboo has recently announced plans to launch a non-profit arts school for children living in his hometown of Rosemead, California.

Taboo's first acting role was in the film Dirty[2] with Wyclef Jean, playing the part of Ramírez.

Taboo made a remix to the song "La Paga" by Juanes.

Currently, Taboo is in the process of creating a solo album titled Taboo. He has collaborated with Ryan Key of Yellowcard on the song "Gotta Get It Now". He also collaborated with reggaeton rapper David Rolas for the song "Morena", and rapper Fudge Dog on the song "Get It".

He will be in another movie called "Cosmic Radio" which also stars Michael Madsen, although no date has been confirmed for the release of the film.

In late 2007, Taboo also collaborated with Merengue/Bachata star Juan Luis Guerra on a remix of his hit song "La Llave de Mi Corazón".

As of 15 May 2007, Taboo has said that some of the collaborators might be Frankie J, E-40, Pitbull, and Kumbia Kings. He has also said his solo album will be out next autumn/fall.

He is also going to portray Vega in the upcoming Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li.
