[edit] Faint Hope

Ta bu shi da yu, I hope that you return. Despite the fact that I wanted the GNAA article deleted, your efforts to get it up to FA status were fantastic, and I just want you to know that if you come back, you'll be welcomed, at least by me. Please, don't let some edit-warring scare you off. --Scimitar parley 14:43, 7 September 2005 (UTC)

Oh please. Don't bother. Ta bu shi da yu is just a self-important attention addict, don't play into his drama. He'll be back again, unfortuantely. --Gmaxwell 16:37, 7 September 2005 (UTC)
What the hell kind of attack was that?! Redwolf24 (talk) 23:19, 7 September 2005 (UTC)
I'll do what I want, and file your comment under A, for a'sinine assumption. Finally, unlike others, I really don't think it's conducive to the project to drive off first-rate editors. See RickK, or Jtdirl, or maybe Rl. That's off the top of my head. I can name half a dozen more, so, in short, the next time you feel the need to offer your opinion, think it through, and ask yourself: will I come out sounding like a petulant child? If the answer is yes, don't post your undoubtedly insightful commentary.--Scimitar parley 17:02, 7 September 2005 (UTC)
People will come and people will go, thats just a fact of life. When I decided to stop spending time on Wikipedia (a decisions the actions of Ta Bu played no small part in), I didn't run around whining about it. Ta Bu has left our dear project never to return again at least a half dozen times so far... Thus my blase attitude about it... Oh well. I find it amusing that you regret the loss of RickK in particular, since he probably drove of more users than all other editors combined. --Gmaxwell 17:26, 7 September 2005 (UTC)
Yep, your reply is the reason I'm leaving all right. - 203.134.166.99 23:22, 7 September 2005 (UTC)
If you left the pedia how are you right here? And these attacks you are making on frustrated, yet great, editors is intolerable. Redwolf24 (talk) 23:19, 7 September 2005 (UTC)
Well it's not a personal attack if it's true! :) --Gmaxwell 23:46, 7 September 2005 (UTC)
Charming. It was a personal comment. And you said it to attack the editor. Therefore, this is a personal attack. HTH. HAND. - 203.134.166.99 03:40, 8 September 2005 (UTC)
The prohibition of personal attacks does not extend to criticizing the inapproiate behavior of other Wikipedians. My choice of wording could have been improved somewhat: with greater consideration I wish I'd said "'s behavior with regard to leaving and returning to Wikipedia (intentional or not) is manipulative and is the sort of behavior you'd expect from a self-important attention addict, and not a Wikipedia administrator" and not "is just a self-important attention addict". Otherwise I still stand by that position, and I invite you to discuss it with me on my talk page. --Gmaxwell 04:28, 8 September 2005 (UTC)

Wow. Gmaxwell's comment is horrifying; I don't even know what to say to that. Ta bu, please come back. Editors like him are in the minority—don't let them drive you off. — Knowledge Seeker 03:58, September 8, 2005 (UTC)

Tabu left this time because the GNAA FAC wasn't going his way, not because of a conflict with me or anyone else. --Gmaxwell 04:28, 8 September 2005 (UTC)
That is wrong, wrong, wrong. I'm leaving over many many personal attacks and failure to recognise that my edits aren't done to disrupt the community or do POV pushing. The GNAA FAC, while unpleasant, was not the reason I'm leaving. I'm logging in to correct this misconception, btw. - Ta bu shi da yu 04:32, 8 September 2005 (UTC)
TBSDY, I'd encourage you to return. You yourself have used Personal Attacks over and over again so leaving because of them seems a bit hypocritical. Wikipedia does suck, but you were part of the Cabal, and have the power to change things, come back and do it right. Agriculture 05:04, 8 September 2005 (UTC)

And he will purr loudly, unmercilessly, and unrelentlessly
I appreciate the encouragement, but would like to get a diff where I personally attacked someone. - Ta bu shi da yu 06:13, 8 September 2005 (UTC)
I don't keep exact score, I've seen it quite a lot thought, you get pissed/don't get your way and lash out, a minor example that I did record is here: [1] just a minor one, but an example none the less. Agriculture 06:25, 8 September 2005 (UTC)
OK, I'm sorry for this. But that's one example, hardly happening over and over again. And this doesn't give anyone the right to make personal attacks. But hey, soon I'll not be contributing so why the hell should I really care? - 203.134.166.99 07:57, 8 September 2005 (UTC)
Sorry but it's not my duty to keep track of your every personal attack... so I haven't. Trying to jump on my case for this is actually quite silly. The fact is you do. My point is because of this you ought to be more forgiving to those who drove you off this time. Agriculture 12:49, 8 September 2005 (UTC)
Back so soon? 81.131.216.221 06:29, 8 September 2005 (UTC)

Yes, be back soon, or I'll send you-know-who with-tail after you. Cordially & sincerely yours, El_C 06:46, 8 September 2005 (UTC)

Come back, Ta bu, and that's an order. [2] Troop Mascot Virgin 08:46, September 9, 2005 (UTC)

I have to sympathise with Gmaxwell. This Ta Bu Shi Da Yu fellow seems to be a Wikipedia admin and editor of long standing, long before I signed up anyway. I gather he is a popular person. In the last couple of months he seems to have left, rejoined, vandalised a couple of pages as a joke, been given a mild slap on the wrist, and flounced off again. Judging by the picture below he is not someone I would defer to in real life, and yet on this project he potentially has the power to slap me with a ban. And now he seems to be combining the admin powers of this account with the anonymity of an IP address. I wish I was so charming and affable that people would repeatedly clamour for my return. I am prepared to be governed, but only by people I respect. And I am a reasonable man; all of this is fuel for the kind of clever vandals that enjoys Wikipedia so much. If I was a Skyring or a Sollog or the IP chap who doesn't put spaces after punctuation I would not be deterred by Ta Bu Shi Da Yu. If I was involved in a dispute with him in any capacity I would read through this page and Ta Bu Shi Da Yu's history and I would dismiss him, or use all of this against him. -Ashley Pomeroy 01:07, 14 September 2005 (UTC)

Ta bu, come back please. You're a great editor, and a great person. I realise I don't know you but would like to (as a would with all of the decent folk here). Please, please come back. --Celestianpower hablamé 22:10, 26 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Explain Please

Why have you protected the page:User:203.134.166.99 You are editing from it openly. Please unprotect at once, and do not abuse your powers or they will be removed. 81.131.216.40 07:39, 9 September 2005 (UTC)

See WP:AN, and please assume good faith, anonymous editor, prior to issuing demands and making insinuations of administrative abuse. Thanks. El_C 07:48, 9 September 2005 (UTC)
This [3] is your example of goodfaith is it? 213.122.28.82 09:34, 9 September 2005 (UTC)
Yes, and now let us examine what that was all about (context does help one so, now doesn't it?). I had to test out some functionality by logging out and editing my very own user page. One of the people who periodically checks the page noticed the change and assumed a vandal (it happens) and so added a polite warning to the page. I have a right to blank the page, because the IP address might not be solely used by myself. So as you can see, this is neither a good faith nor bad faith edit by anyone. Whoever you are, by the way, you are a coward for editing via anonymous address. Why don't you grow a backbone and log into Wikipedia under your regular username? - 211.30.181.143 10:18, 10 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] GNAA

I'm not sure why you're so bent on getting that promoted, but if you nominate it, at least follow the procedure. Move the old discussion to an archive, so that new discussion can occur. That's in the instructions at the top. Now no one wants you to leave over this article, so why not just work on something else? Nothing says that article needs to be featured. In fact I think there are so many people that want it not to be based on the offensiveness and lack of importance/known information (which I have to admit I sympathize with) that I can't understand why you find it worth it to beat your head against a wall and stress yourself out over it. My personal feeling is you'd be much better off just ignoring it. Just prioritize-is it better to run into something you know you will stress out over, or let it go and contribute elsewhere? - Taxman Talk 13:27, September 11, 2005 (UTC)

  • Why are you forcing those sympathetic to your plight and obvious stress levels to come out and vote this doomed page down. You must know from your considerable experience such a "load of old twaddle" can never be an FA. No doubt you will think I only voted against the page because of your recent interests and FARCing of my chosen subjects and edits. Yes, I was angry and have made my feelings felt on various pages, including your own, and I must admit, I still find your logic and edit waring at John Vanbrugh incomprehensible. However, I have hitherto refrained from passing judgement on GNAA, but by placing it again on FA you only invite further negative comment, which is bound to distress you further. I suggest you log in properly, give up these multiple number edits and then consider your much needed future here, perhaps after a short period of rest and recuperation and proper abstinence from the project you will find the energies to resume your valued work here. Sincere regards Giano | talk 18:22, 11 September 2005 (UTC)

Hi. I'm not even sure if you're around anymore, and I I apologies for 'spamming' your talkpage like this, but some time ago you was helpfull with comments several of 'my' other articles on old Norwegian rifles and I wondered if you might be interested in helping out peer reviewing the article on the Kammerlader. Thank you for your time. WegianWarrior 11:44, 12 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Templates for deletion

Still with us I see, regarding your comment here [4] That is not the place for one of your outbursts, but you force me to reply and defend myself. Your reverting a "few times" is here [5] - you actually reverted 3 different editors who all disliked the template. You then posted all your friends, so that we had Netoholic come along and he reverted six times. My supposed non response to your talk page comment is here:[6]. Regarding me being pissed off about the FARC debacle, I would have thought looking at the result [7] it would be you pissed off rather than me. Regarding : "I've gone off the air " You have not gone off the air. From the very moment you theatrically announced your departure you have been constantly popping up and down like an agitated infant. Now if you've nothing constructive to say it's better to say nothing at all. Giano | talk 13:36, 29 September 2005 (UTC)
