[edit] Question
I saw you on Recent Changes blanking your userpage. Did I miss something? Are you leaving? I hope I'm utterly mistaken! — mark ✎ 13:32, 14 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- You're going to be missed by a lot of people! Myself included. It was good to have you around with your mixture of kindness, good sense, and quirkiness (in the nice way). I hope you do come back to edit anonymously as you told Mark you would. All I ask is that you carry a copy of The Times of London and wear a red carnation in your lapel so that I recognize you. Best, SlimVirgin 13:54, Mar 14, 2005 (UTC)
- Well, I think you have a really good reason. I don't have some witty valediction, but I'll tell you that more than once I was about to drop a note on your Talk to thank you for being real — real as in authentic. I've always appreciated your honesty and your occasional tempers. God bless you, Ta bu. — mark ✎ 14:00, 14 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Sorry to see you go. No one's so busy that they can't drop by to edit every now and then, you know! Hope to see you editing again someday! Everyking 14:07, 14 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks for your work. I am sorry to see you leaving, please feel free to come back anytime. Good luck for your future -- Chris 73 Talk 14:31, Mar 14, 2005 (UTC)
Oh! I am sorry that we won't see you around, but I hope this is a wikibreak/vacation rather than a departure. Please take as long as you need, and then add a couple of weeks, but it would be great if you could drop by from time to time, if only to see what happens to exploding whale. -- ALoan (Talk) 14:56, 14 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- ...and to continue the theme of wikilove above and below, for all of your efforts, past and I hope future, you are hereby my hero of the day and here is a gold star (I hope you won't take offence at being awarded an ex-Soviet honour). -- ALoan (Talk) 17:11, 14 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Sorry to see you go as well. JuntungWu 15:12, 14 Mar 2005 (UTC)
What's this, you're leaving? Don't go! You're a great editor and admin! And a good person too. At least just make it a break. You'll be sorely missed. Jayjg (talk) 15:33, 14 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- They're dropping like flies. I, too, am sorry to see you go, but we should have always known that this fish was too big for our small pond. Good luck in everything else you do, and remember that you always have friends here, however geeky and anonymous they may be. Cheers, DropDeadGorgias (talk) 15:59, Mar 14, 2005 (UTC)
I wish you good luck in whatever you will do next. I will try to carry on some of the work we have done in the past. I hope you come back one day mate. Take care! Inter\Echo 12:20, 15 Mar 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Request
With some small experience watching some of your discussions, I've developed an impression that you are a valuable contributor to Wikipedia. I understand the issues with WP:PR. However, I would wish that you continue editing here, if not as an admin. -- Sundar 14:25, Mar 14, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] You are missed
I was sorry to see you go. I hope you'll take a nice break and come back fresh. Who else is going to write about incendiary cetaceans? -- Netoholic @ 15:30, 2005 Mar 14 (UTC)
Sorry to hear you're leaving. I've desysopped you as you requested. Angela. 16:41, Mar 14, 2005 (UTC)
Sorry to see you go. As echoed by other users, I hope this is a WikiVacation and not a permanent leave. Exploding whale might qualify for a topical barnstar under Oddball section. --Deathphoenix 16:45, 14 Mar 2005 (UTC)
You will be missed for your great articles, wonderful sense of humor, and good nature—qualities that seem to be rare these days. I wish you good luck in the real world.Warmest regards -Neutralitytalk 16:48, Mar 14, 2005 (UTC)
Hi TBSDY--just saw this going by on recent changes, and while it is not happy news to see a contributor and admin of your high quality leaving, you must always do what is best for yourself. Having joined and left half-a-dozen big internet communities myself, I fully understand: yet I hope you do come back soon. Be well and thanks for all your help! Antandrus 16:59, 14 Mar 2005 (UTC)
I have always been impressed by your way to handle conflict, to admit error, to focus on the positive side of things, and by your tireless work for this project. You will be missed. If you ever happen to feel homesick, we'll be happy to welcome you back. Good luck, wherever you roam. Kosebamse 17:59, 14 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Not sure what to say that hasn't been said already, but your efforts here have been greatly appreciated. I once read an article that juxtaposed the seriousness involved in humour with the humour that can be found in seriousness. Your ability to use both appropriately has helped to make Wikipedia a more enjoyable place. --Michael Snow 18:41, 14 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Hi mate! What's up? Lupo 19:21, 14 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- I wish you all the best. Hopefully you'll be able to find some time to be able to come back—I don't think it's an either-or choice. Just make sure that real life gets the priority! Good luck, man! Lupo 07:32, 15 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Aww no. Who's going to look after the exploding whales now? Have fun in whatever you are planning to do next. -- Solipsist 20:32, 14 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Hey dude, nice to have had you around, will we be seeing you more on k5 or elsewhere again? :-) Kim Bruning 01:15, 15 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia. I am always glad to see your sensible comments on talk pages and your solid edits to articles. Best wishes. Cheers, -Willmcw 07:59, Mar 15, 2005 (UTC)
We'll miss you. I hope you'll keep visiting us time to time. Best Wishes. utcursch | talk 08:02, Mar 15, 2005 (UTC)
Oh, wow. Well, we all need a break every now and then. Good luck, and come back when you've had a good vacation. RickK 08:05, Mar 15, 2005 (UTC)
Come back... you didn't stitch my photo... :( -- AllyUnion (talk) 12:15, 15 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Goodbye, Mr. "You are not a big fish". I, and others here, will miss you. If you do ever come back around, take a look at Wikipedia:The universe does not revolve around you. -- AllyUnion (talk) 12:25, 15 Mar 2005 (UTC)
I am more than a little sorry to see you go. You have long been one of the best editors on here: thank you very much, and I hope you will return. Exploding whale will never be forgotten. Smoddy (tgec) 19:41, 15 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- You are not allowed to leave! I'll send Jimbo's private army to draft you! JFW | T@lk 21:34, 15 Mar 2005 (UTC)
That really sucks. You were most certainly one of my favourite people at Wikipedia. Hope this isn't permanent. BLANKFAZE | (что??) 00:16, 16 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Adding my name to the growing list, sad to hear you've left for now - I hope you come back. zoney ♣ talk 00:21, 16 Mar 2005 (UTC)
NOOOOOOO! I am truly and deeply saddened to have just learned of this and I am actually feeling a lump in my throat. I cannot thank you enough for all of your support and your selfless, nonpareil contributions. May your whales always go boom! Please stay in touch. - Lucky 6.9 06:46, 16 Mar 2005 (UTC)
To the user that's not a big fish (at least that's what we think) from a simple fool, I say unto you: Allaaay-Wiki! Really, I hope any greener pastures that you my find satisify you as the Wikipedia did (and still does?).humblefool® 04:32, 23 Mar 2005 (UTC)

I'm so sorry to see you go! You're a really excellent admin, you will be missed tremendously by everyone! I hope you come back!!! But if you don't, then please at least drop by IRC or something every now and then :'( -Frazzydee|✍ 14:27, 16 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Glad to see that the "goodbye" thing isn't absolute. Hopefully, the freedom from admin responsibilities will open up enough time in your schedule that the occasional special guest appearances can continue. --iMb~Mw 14:27, 17 Mar 2005 (UTC)

You welcomed me in, I welcome you out. May your dive into Real Life do you good and bring you everything you want it to bring. Bonne route. notafish }<';> 08:18, 22 Mar 2005 (UTC)
[edit] You're the very first
I noticed that you still make it here, from time to time, and I wanted to let you know that your influence remains significant, and will no doubt be very long lasting. A perfect example of this "TBSDY-ness" is your exploding whale article, which is so odd yet so remarkably well-crafted that it even inspired a line of [[exploding whale]] merchandise.
In recognition of your continued influence, and in particular this inspired act, I award you the very first Oddball Barnstar, freshly minted! – ClockworkSoul 03:41, 23 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Hear, hear! Well-earned award for a masterpiece of the inexplicable. I've heard and seen the video for exploding whale years before I've known of Wikipedia. I used to say to my friends, about Wikipedia, there's even an article about exploding whale, and it's a damn good one for that matter. Now I can say, with a certain measure of pride: I know the author of exploding whale! El_C 03:07, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Hey TBSDY, just a note to say thanks again for voting for me in my adminship nomination. I really appreciate your support. I love the freshly minted Oddball Barnstar, LOL! Wear it with pride. SlimVirgin 04:24, Mar 24, 2005 (UTC)
And another thing, TBSDY. We rushed the order of this Barnstar especially for you! I told you exploding whale would qualify. ;-) --Deathphoenix 12:47, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Good lord! An oddball award AND some cafe press merchandising - for me? :) I love it and have ordered a jacket. I'm waiting for some Wikipedian to see me wearing it, ask me how I know about [[exploding whale]], just so I can say "I wrote it" :-) Ta bu shi da yu 14:07, 27 Mar 2005 (UTC)
You're the author of [[exploding whale]]! :D El_C 14:23, 27 Mar 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Best of luck
Wish you all the best. I interacted with u only twice though, but still I appreciated the labourious tasks that u undertook especially when you discovered that I had blanked Gangtok from PR a week later :). I still hope to see ya around. Nichalp 20:52, Mar 27, 2005 (UTC)
