[edit] Re: Prison Break Characters

Hi T smitts! The main reasons I removed them at that point in time are as follows:

If I could't reduce the length then I left it as it was. You might have noticed I kind of restructured the articles of the major characters but I haven't finished rewriting some of them since I am quite busy with assignments and tests. I was thinking that we should add some behind the scenes things to make these characters' articles more encyclopaedic.

OK, about the characters:

--Needs an article--

  • Roy Geary: I agree he does have a prominent role but the reason I removed it was it was mostly a recount of the episodes and did not conform to Wikipedia:Manual of Style (writing about fiction). Thus, it needs a slight rewrite to conform to the encyclopaedic standard (which most of the major characters' articles need anyway).
  • Nick Savrinn: I might have mistakenly removed this article. However, I think I did it because I could rewrite his info into a paragraph. Also, there were no behind-the-scenes details I thought we could have added for him in the future, which is why I deleted him. I think Westmoreland's character is more prominent as he is mentioned time and time again in season 2 and he has a background story.

--Does not need an article--

  • Daniel Hale: I agree he had a major role in the first half of season 1 but his info could be summarised in a concise paragraph.
  • Samantha Brinker: Same with Hale
  • Manche Sanchez: Same with Hale
  • Debra Jean Belle: Agreed
  • Quinn: Agreed
  • Philly Falzone: Agreed
  • Robert Hudson: Agreed
  • Nika Volek: I didn't have time to rewrite hers which is why hers is still there. Her info could also be rewritten in a concise paragraph.
  • William Kim: To me, I don't think this character warrants an article, until perhaps we get a background info on him.

[edit] Re: Prison Break Template

Hi again T smitts! Before I start, I just want to let you know that I won't be here as often for the next three weeks because of exams. Anyway, back on topic... the reason why I removed the recurring and secondary characters from the template was because it meant that the template was constantly being fiddled with. Moreover, I think it encouraged people to create articles for secondary characters and linked them via the template. Another reason I would like to point out is that each TV show is different so the template used may vary for each of them. Prison Break has so many recurring characters which makes it kind of hard to put all the links there without making the template looking like the "list of characters" article. In my opinion, I think that secondary characters shouldn't be linked individually but should be linked as a whole "list of secondary characters", which still provides easy access since it is linked to the section of secondary characters. I understand that distinguishing the members of "the Fox River Eight" may be more informative but again I changed the arrangement of the "list of characters" article to match those of other tv shows. Since main characters were separately grouped from the secondary characters, it meant that the "Fox River Eight" section had to be split up as Tweener and Haywire are secondary characters. There was another reason which prompted me to rearrange the article - "out-of-universe" style required in Wikipedia.

In response to "If I were looking up info on the characters of Prison Break to learn more about the show, I think I'd want to know who the fugitives were", I would like to say that if that person was watching the show, they would know about them. Previously, in the main article Prison Break, there was a paragraph in the synopsis section which listed the characters belonging to "Fox River Eight" but was deemed too "in-universe" and was removed subsequently. I think the information about the "Fox River Eight" could be added in the eight characters' articles if they haven't already been added.

Regards, Ladida 06:48, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

You said "some recurring characters" should warrant a link in the template but I really would discourage that because that brings in POV issues unless you mean linking all the recurring characters that have their own articles. Again, I think the link to the list of recurring characters suffice. If the person who is reading about Prison Break and is NOT familiar with the show and do not know about the characters, then I think the current format is sufficient as it is written to conform to the encyclopaedic style of Wikipedia. [edit] Re: Prison Break notes

Hi. Restoring Kim's article is probably a good idea since his character seems to be expanding. I'm unsure about adding Bellick to the Prisoners of Prison Break category. I mean, I know he is a prisoner now but he wasn't part of the main batch, if you know what I mean. But technically, he qualifies for the category, I think... Anyway, I have seen the episode and hoped you enjoyed it too! :) Ladida 03:30, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

Is the metallic sound you are referring to the gong sound? After I removed your comment, I checked some of the episodes. It actually sounds every time Kellerman makes an individual appearance. I'm sorry about removing that. I made a mistake. Regards, Ladida 23:08, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

At least I think it was a gong. :) Regards, Ladida 23:13, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

I see that you have restored his page. that is unconstructive as there was a merger proposed by myself whihc was unopposed by anybody. So the merger went ahead. I am sorry you dislike the redirect it is not unjustified it is fully justified and transparent. Nobody said anything against the merger so nobody opposed the merger. So if you would like to discuss this further please drop a note on my talk page but until then i will restore the link to the minor characters page.--Lucy-marie 21:14, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:Alanmiliken.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Alanmiliken.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 08:04, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] List of Prison Break characters

Hey, T smitts! Do you think List of Prison Break characters/sandbox is a good idea? 'Cos currently the article doesn't really look like a list and it doesn't really contain a complete list of characters (which is partly my fault as I keep removing them since some of them don't really deserve a screenshot or a long description). :) Otherwise, I was thinking of regrouping the recurring characters to two separate sections (relating to the season they were introduced in) because e.g. Pope doesn't belong in the Fox River Staff section any more. The roles of the characters aren't really static and if someone who had just started watching the series, they would group the characters differently. That was another reason I wanted to change it to a standard/simple list. Let me know what you think. Regards, Ladida 12:23, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

It's implemented in List of Prison Break characters now. Regards, Ladida 08:10, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Jacob Rossler

Ok look, I'm just gonna talk straight with you. There's no reason to remove the Rossler character. If you watch season 5 he does play a role, so it's really not something you can just ignore. That's like saying Theo Stoller wasn't important to the plot. He led CTU to Collete Stenger, who provided them the info they need to stop the nerve gas. Rossler provided Erwich a way to remarm the canisters and played a role by setting up the meeting. You can't say he didn't play a role in season 5. How can you possibly say that if you watched season 5? Order_66

Ok, first off, half of the people you mentioned are extreme minor characters. I'm not talking about the people who give the little tidbit of info. Rossler was fully characterized. He set up the plan w/CTU to catch Erwich. He provided a little more help then the first few men you mentioned. And, yes, I know some of the others played a larger role. But Mitch Anderson has his own character page, so that point becomes moot. I'm not saying every single minor character should be in there, but Rossler had more screen time then Jamey Farrel's mother, so it makes no sense why he should be eliminated and not her. Order_66

My point is still the same. Vasquez was only in there for a quarter of an episode. Rossler ahd the whole episode devoted to him, much like Theo Stoller in episode 14. Just because he was only in one episode, that doesn't mean he shouldn't count as a minor character. Order_66

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:24_tom_baker.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:24_tom_baker.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. [edit] Replaceable fair use Image:24Novick.JPG

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:24Novick.JPG. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Garion96 (talk) 20:16, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] 24 Deletions

Thanks you for you opinion, it's nice to see that some people within the 24 community are still active. I brought this to your talk page as I have the same response for all your oppositions so far; Wikipedia is not a plot summary says,

Wikipedia articles on published works should ... not solely [be] a detailed summary of that work's plot.

With this in mind, most, if not all, of the pages I suggested for deletion violate this guideline. Could you include anything other than a plot summary in the Alexis Drazen, Andre Drazen, Abu Fayed... articles? I feel safe in saying that the answer is 'no' and so the pages don't deserve to be here.

WP:NOT#PLOT is part of a larger guideline, namely Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information, which these pages are. If you still feel I am in the wrong, please tell me and I will detail my reasoning for deletion on each individual page. asyndeton 21:27, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] A Perfect Day (Cold Case)

A {{prod}} template has been added to the article A Perfect Day (Cold Case), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you endorse deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please tag it with {{db-author}}. Oo7565 08:30, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:EthanKanin.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:EthanKanin.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 08:04, 27 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] AfD nomination of Jenny Curran

Jenny Curran, an article you created, has been nominated for deletion. We appreciate your contributions. However, an editor does not feel that Jenny Curran satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jenny Curran (2nd nomination) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). [edit] Mergers

If you can justiy why tse characters hould not be merged by citing wikipedia policy and backing that up by all means they wount be merged. In the grand scheme of 24 non of the chahrcter you talk about will ever be mentioned again. Unless you can prove thier notability they will be merged. If you want a page on every character go 24 wikia.--Lucy-marie 18:59, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] HELP!!!! Stop Bauer merges

Lucy marie has gone way too far. I don't know if you've seen, but she's put merger tags on Teri Bauer and KIM BAUER. We need to stop her and get lots of solid reasons onto the talk pages fast!!! Why she's going this far...come and help, please!--Phoenixfan 16:31, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

She’s tagged every “24” character except for Jack and Chloe. In Lucy’s mind, all “24” characters are “minor” except for those two. --MiB-24 (talk) 06:54, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

It looks like this over for now guys. Head over to my talk page to view an account of what happened, but Theresa, one of the admins, has removed ALL of the merge tags from the remaining major characters. She suggested, however, that we continue to research independent and credible sources to support our stance for keeping the individual pages. But for now, it's settled. Thanks for all of your input. And a huge thanks to Theresa for settling this issue--for now at least. Angelriver 17:14, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot (talk) 20:59, 15 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:MitchAnderson.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:MitchAnderson.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Geniac (talk) 18:42, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Ronnielobell.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Ronnielobell.jpg.

Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 10:35, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Pb president mills.jpg

Thank you for uploading Image:Pb president mills.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 15:57, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Proposed deletion of Forrest Gump (character)

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Forrest Gump (character), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Otolemur crassicaudatus (talk) 00:16, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
