[edit] Mythology
I've noticed that you have written about mythological subjects, some of which have linked to my list of missing topics about mythology. Good work. Do you have any comments about the list? - Skysmith 12:14, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] merging the Stephen Oppenheimer page
Do you still think the Oppenheimer page should be merged? Let me know if you do, and I'll leave the tag, otherwise I will remove it in a day or two (I don't much like the look of all this wikipedia-internal cruft at the beginning of articles). Cheers, Ngio 20:51, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
- OK, I've put links between the two articles, and made a start of tidying up the horrible mess on the Oppenheimer page -- Ngio 07:58, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Orphan
Hi Tann, {{orphan}} puts the article in the orphan category, no need to add the cat by hand. Rich Farmbrough, 14:58 16 March 2007 (GMT).
[edit] Copyright violations
Please remove all the information from Wikipedia that you have copied directly from recently published books and websites. If the content remains a formal complaint will be lodged with Wikipedia administration on behalf of the publishers. Regards --Valeren 06:20, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
-
- Just glancing at your recent posts, entries like Proclia, and the sort, are very well done: with useful back references to the primary source for easy verification. But something like Agreus, which is copied almost word for word, is not allowed. Simply replacing a few words or re-arranging a sentence is not sufficient to avoid this being classed as plagiarism -- especially when it comprises 30% or more of a page published online by some web-author: whether that be Theoi or Encyclopedia Mythica, Greek Mythology Link, or any other web source or print-published book. Wikipedia is, of course a high profile site, and is increasingly being held to a higher standard, so care on what material is used needs to be taken.
-
- Consulting primary sources should at least create a need to summarize material in your own words and so avoid the problem. The translations themselves are probably, in most cases, copyright under American law -- to which Wikipedia is held compliant -- but the information within can easily be paraphrased. Anyway, keep up the good work with organising and cataloging the mythology articles. --Valeren 11:34, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
Just a friendly reminder to use an edit summary when proposing deletion for an article. Edit summary usage is always good, but it is especially important that edit summaries are used when proposing deletion. The reason for this is that articles proposed for deletion that later have the {{prod}} tag removed should not be proposed for deletion again, but rather sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. The only easy way to check if an article was previously proposed for deletion is to look at the edit history and the edit summaries people have left before. Thanks! Oo7565 07:30, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] For All the Work on the Greek Mythology pages
The Tireless Contributor Barnstar | ||
You kept popping up on my watchlist today on all the mythology pages, and when I took a look at your contributions, I had to give you this! Thanks for all the categorizing and detail edits you've done today on the Greek Gods and Godesses and deities/creatures/etc. pages! You've contributed quite a lot and I just want to let you know that it's all greatly appriciated! Keep up the great work! Thank you! Irish♣Pearl 16:35, 3 April 2007 (UTC) |
[edit] Corcyra
Hello, I noticed that you created an article Corcyra (mythology) on April 4. This is the same as Korkyra that you edited three days earlier on April 1. Korkyra, the original article, was created 18 June 2006. There was no reason to create another article with exactly the same name but with latin spelling especially if you knew about the pre-existence of Korkyra. Linking to two articles with the same mythological figure but different spellings creates confusion. Therefore I suggest you merge Corcyra (mythology) with Korkyra. Thanks. Dr.K. 18:18, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
Good work. Thanks again. Dr.K. 19:41, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] sorting
When adding categories to people, do not forget to add proper category sorting to new added category or DEFAULTSORT template. You forgot that in Category:Charles University alumni, i am correcting it now. Thanks --Jklamo 14:27, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Categories, categories
I noticed you are helping us out at Wikipedia:WikiProject Categories/uncategorized/previous-April. Thank you! Would you like to join the Uncategorized Task Force? That would be great. By the way, you can put [[:Category:Mythology stubs]] (notice the beginning colon) on your userpage instead of the external link. Just a cool tip that maybe you'd wanna use. See you around =) →EdGl 14:21, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] More on categories
I notice you've been editing some categories, e.g. in Terry Pratchett. Please note that when there's a DEFAULTSORT statement in the article (e.g. {{DEFAULTSORT|Pratchett, Terry}}) then it's not necessary to include "|Pratchett, Terry" as a parameter to every category - the defaultsort statement does it all for you automatically. -- Arwel (talk) 01:16, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Translations
Hello! I noticed you came across the Tejutla article and left a note about it needing a translation on its talk page. If you happen to come across something like that again, please feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Pages needing translation into English or add the "Category:Wikipedia articles needing translation" tag to it so we can find it, thanks! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Yupik (talk • contribs) 23:24, 22 April 2007 (UTC).
- Yehp, that's mine, sorry about that :) -Yupik 08:37, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] DEFAULTSORT:
Howdy, I only recently was notified that DEFAULTSORT uses a ":" rather than a "|". The ":" forces a template to be used, but the preferred syntax is with the ":". I have been using this link: Special:Whatlinkshere/Template:DEFAULTSORT to monitor the template usage and found a sudden surge when I logged in today. I will try to fix some along the way. Happy Trails! Schmiteye 14:56, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

- Wow! That was fast. Thanks for being so responsive. Schmiteye 03:51, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] categorization tip
Hi. Thanks for your help on the previous/april page. I noticed your question and I don't have a good answer but one thing you can do when in doubt is to ask at the talk page of Wikipedia:WikiProject Categories/uncategorized. Someone there is bound to know. Pascal.Tesson 16:34, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Hello
Please just leave a reply under here stating that you saw this - thanks. ST47Talk 03:10, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
Hello to you to. Yes, I saw this. What's this about? T@nn 03:11, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Cfd notification: Category:University of Illinois alumni
You recently created Category:University of Illinois alumni. I have nominated it for deletion for the following reason: This is a redundant category; the established category is Category:University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign alumni. If you would like to comment on this, you can do so in the discussion section for this nomination. Regards --ShelfSkewed talk 19:34, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
- Followup: I've already changed my position to Keep as a parent category for all three campuses' alumni categories (Springfield & Chicago alumni don't have categories yet), and it looks like that's the way it's going to go.--ShelfSkewed talk 00:51, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Merging Polyxena/Polyssena
Hi I support your proposed merger of these two articles, assuming it is with Polyxena as the main article. --Peter cohen 19:52, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] DEFAULTSORT
I noticed that you added this template to a whole bunch of articles in my watchlist, but I can't seem to figure out what it does exactly? Could you please give me a simple explanation? Thanks! – Lordmontu (talk) • (contribs) 02:04, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Uncat people
In case you didn't catch it, I thought I'd point out a recent edit of mine, which might be of interest to you. --Fisherjs 13:05, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the heads up. I'll get started on clearing your category within the next few days. T@nn 13:09, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Dr. Philip Strax
You contributed to an article on Dr. Philip Strax. I had a close relationship with this man (RIP), and I would like to add to this article some biographical information. As this would be the first article that I would be making a substantial contribution to, would you be willing to help guide me through the process of compiling the information?
The article can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philip_Strax

[edit] Kris Hager
I speedily closed your MFD nomination on this page because it's an article; you'll need to take it to AFD instead, as MFD isn't for articles. :) --Coredesat 07:24, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Icewind Dale II
Hi. That game is already categorised as Forgotten Realms videogame, which via D&D videogames is already in the Fantasy videogame topcat. So I removed that cat again. Cheers. MadMaxDog 06:24, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Category:Fantasy role-playing games
T@nn,
You've been adding fantasy role-playing video games to Category:Fantasy role-playing games. THat category isn't for CRPGs, but rather for none-electronic RPGs. If you wish, try Category:Fantasy role-playing video games instead. Percy Snoodle 13:15, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Cissonia?
Hi; I noticed that you mentioned on the Cissonius page that a secondary source mentioned an associated goddess Cissonia. Do you have any further specifics for this? I know of, for example, Visucia who was associated with Mercurius Visucius on a couple inscriptions from the Rhineland (Trier and Köngen). Does Miranda Green give any information of this kind?
