T.J. Rooney (born December 9, 1964) is a former American politician and member of the Democratic Party. He was elected Representative of the 133rd Legislative District of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 1992, and his term of office began January, 1992. He is currently Managing Director of the Tri State Strategies PA, L.L.C., and also served as Chairman of the Pennsylvania Democratic National Committee during the 2004 presidential election.

Rooney was born in Garden City to Irish-American parents (Leo J. Rooney and Virginia Price). Raised in Essex Fells, NJ, he attended West Essex Falls High School and graduated in 1983. He attended Catawba College on a golf scholarship in 1984.

T.J. made a living as a number of different titles. Sales Manager of Royal Fjord Salmon in Hillside, NJ, a sales representative for Douglas W. Kent, Inc., Real Estate in Caldwell, NJ., as well as other things before arriving in his father's hometown of Bethlehem, PA.

Rooney and his wife,Kathleen Stilin-Rooney, a Catholic, married in 1989, and have one son, Leo J. Rooney, II, a student (Class of 2008) at Liberty High School, and a daughter, Abaigeal C. Rooney, also a student (Class of 2009) at Liberty High School.
