Türk Telekom is the formerly state owned Turkish telecommunications company. Türk Telekom was founded in 1995, being separated from the Post Office. In November 2005 it was privatized to Oger Telecom.

[edit] Organizational Structure

In the May of 2008, Turk Telekom completed the fifth largest IPO of the world by selling the 15% of the government stocks which totaled a sum of 2.4 billion dolars. After the sale of these stocks new organizational structure shaped as follows: 55% Oger Group, 15% small shareholders, 30% Government of Turkey. After this IPO, lower levels of government intervention (controversial censorship) and higher levels of technological upgrades (bandwidth, etc.) are expected from the company as well as a stronger competition in the market as other telecommunication companies announced their entries.
