Talk:Täby Municipality
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hi, I'm a resident of Täby and feel that a lot of information could be added to this article. Would anyone mind if I went ahead (otherwise you could just revert all or some of my changes)? Many things could be added/expanded on: history, neighbourhoods, pictures, current issues, statistics, etc. E.g. do you have any suggestions for sections? Osli73 22:21, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
In the text it appears as if there is such a thing as Täby town when in fact Täby is very much a suburb of Stockholm with no characteristic town center (the only center of of Täby is a large shopping mall and 1960-70 high rises.~I have thus edited the article accordingly.Osli73 12:24, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
The article intro now states that there is such a place as the "city of Täby" with a defined population.

Its seat is the city of Täby, with a population of 58,593 (2005).
AFAIK there is no such city. There is, however, an area which is more densely populated. Mind if I change this? Cheers Osli73 12:08, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

- Yes, it should be urban area... / Fred-Chess 13:30, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
Fred, I wouldn't call any part of Täby truly "urban" in the meaning that it is a densely populated town. Instead, I would label the built-up parts as "suburban" whether they are covered with detached houses, semi-detached houses or multi-family dwellings. According to the Wiki article on urban areas...
An urban area is an area with an increased density of human-created structures in comparison to the areas surrounding it. This term is at one end of the spectrum of suburban and rural areas. An urban area is more frequently called a city or town.
Given that we both agree that there is no "town" or "city" in Täby, I'd definately describe Täby as suburban rather than urban. Cheers Osli73 14:02, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
