Tàrrega is the capital of the comarca of Urgell, in the province of Lleida, Catalonia, Spain. It is located at 373 metres above the sea. Population 16.131 (2007).
Tàrrega possesses a large natural park, called Sant Eloi in the north-east. The city has many romanic and gothic buildings. The Palau dels Marquesos i la Floresta dates from the XIIIrd century, and the Church of Sant Antoni from the XIVth.
At its teathre fair, held annually each September, Tàrrega welcomes more than 100,000 people. It's the second biggest city in the provincia of Lleida's.
Manuel de Pedrolo (a famous poet), lived in Tàrrega. Joan Capdevila (Villarreal CF and Deportivo de La Coruña footballer) was born and lived there.
