[edit] naming this article

Before moving this page to Port Lotniczy Szczecin-Goleniów please consider the following:

  • a) most users will access this page by linking to it
  • b) a redirect already exists from Port Lotniczy Szczecin-Goleniów
  • c) this is an English language article and most english language users cannot easilly type the letter 'ó' so will access the page via a redirect anyway. Also, most users are unlikely to be aware of the airport's official name.

[edit] time to move this article?

Contrary to what I posted here nearly 12 months ago, I think that perhaps this article should be moved for two reasons. Forstly, it is now out of step with all the other Polish Airport articles, which have mostly all been moved and renamed since they were created and now reflect the official names of the airports. Secondly, the recent creation of Szczecin-Lotnisko means that we need to either merge or disambiguate the two articles. (from what I can gather, they aren't the same airport, but I'm not sure). In my view, Sczecin Airport should probably become a disambiguation page. There aren't too many articles which link to this page, and many of them link from the 'Airports of Poland' template, so redirecting articles shouldn't be a problem.
What does everybody think? -- Adz|talk 06:14, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

User:Qqerim posted the following comment at Talk:Airports in Poland with unpaved runways. I thought it would be useful to post it here.
In my opinion, we shouldn't confuse the municipal neighborhoods of Szczecin with its two airports (although the word "airport" (lotnisko) appears in its name). Szczecin-Lotnisko and Szczecin-Dąbie seem to be two separate neighborhoods of the city, thus should not be merged. On the other hand the search string "Szczecin Airport" perhaps should link to a disambiguation page with following links:
*1. Szczecin Airport, major airport of Szczecin, situaded near Goleniów
*2. Szczecin-Dąbie Airport, small sport aviation airport in Szczecin
*3. Szczecin-Lotnisko, municipal neighborhood of Szczecin
Unless anybody objects, I think we should move the article and create a disambiguation page. The only problem might be that Szczecin-Goleniów Airport is a redirect page, so it may require an admin to do the move. -- Adz|talk 08:03, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
As you see, I moved Szczecin Airport to Szczecin-Goleniów "Solidarność" Airport since that is its new official name. I also made sure all redirect pages point correctly to the new location and I created a couple more redirects. I also made sure that nothing points to Szczecin Airport except some talk pages, changing all those mentions to the new location. The only thing that remains to be done is turning Szczecin Airport into a disambiguation page as suggested above by Qqerim. --Mareklug talk 05:34, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
I made the disambiguation page Szczecin Airport, as well. --Mareklug talk 05:50, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
