Szafarnia (Masovian Voivodeship)

Szafarnia, in Poland's Mazowsze Province (aka Masovian Voivodeship) is one of three villages of that name in Poland (the other two being in Kujawy–Pomorze Province and Warmia–Mazury Province).

Mazowsze's Szafarnia is a village near the Drwęca River in Mazowsze Province, Ostrołęka County, Lelis Commune.

In 1975–98 Szafarnia was part of Ostrołęka Province.

A visitor to Szafarnia, in his early teens, was Frédéric Chopin, who was a guest there of Prince Antoni Radziwiłł. From Szafarnia Chopin wrote home his famous Kuriery Szafarskie (Szafarnia Courier) letters that spoofed the Warsaw newspapers and demonstrated young Chopin's literary talent.
